Barrio-Ed Website BarrioEd is an afterschool program rooted in care, creativity, and community. We work with students at Kirkbride and Francis Scott Key schools in South Philadelphia, alongside a collective of Swarthmore and Philadelphia community members. Together we create spaces where young people can explore knowledge, wellness, and sanctuary. Our programming is guided by four pillars: santuario nutritivo (nourishment and healing), conocimiento (knowledge and growth), sanctuary (safety and belonging), and Youth Participatory Action Research, where students take the lead in shaping the questions and ideas that matter most to them. This year, we need to raise $20,000 to keep BarrioEd going strong. These funds will allow us to: Sustain and fairly compensate our dedicated facilitators Provide materials and resources for youth projects Grow our programs so more students can join and benefit BarrioEd is more than an afterschool program. It is a space of joy, learning, and empowerment for young people who deserve to see their voices valued and their futures nurtured. With your support, we can continue to build a community where students feel at home, cared for, and inspired. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue this work. Please consider donating and sharing with others who believe in education, equity, and community.
