<div>For those that don't know us, Jordon and I have been together since we were 16 &amp; 19. When I was 20 and Jordon had just turned 23 he was in a car accident that would forever change the course of our lives. He broke his neck leaving him paralyzed and a C6/7 quadriplegic. Months of recovery, hospital stays in Vancouver, surgery and outpatient programs would consume the next 2 years of our lives, but it wouldnt stop us from moving forward. It wasn't an easy road by any means but we eventually learned how to live our new lives and we got married in 2008.

<div>In 2011 we had Landon, our sweet boy we wanted so badly and were so blessed to finally have. He would change our lives for the better, make us parents for the first time and teach us so many lessons along the way. He was and still is perfect ♡

<div>When Landon was 3 we started to notice little things. Concerns were brought forward by his daycare and later his kindergarten teacher when he was 5 that there might be a possibility that Landon could be Autistic. It was a hard acceptance for us and we honestly didn't even know where to start. Having only just dealt with the devastation of Jordons injury I almost selfishly didn't want to accept that for my son. Looking back now I know I could have done more earlier intervention but denial is a funny emotion. Fast-forward to age 6 and we received the diagnosis for Landon; ASD/ADHD and ODD. ASD being his primary diagnosis would mean that he would struggle with understanding social ques, building and retaining friendships and not always being able to self regulate and decompress from stressful situations. Although an every day challenge, we have learned so much along our journey with our son. He has changed us for the better in so many ways.

<div>That being said, the one thing missing from Jordon and Landons lives, and their relationship together as father and son, is activity. Getting outside to do anything physical presents all kinds of challenges for Jordon (or anyone able bodied for that matter). Accessibility is always a problem. Bikes just don't fit, don't work, or he's just too tall. And then there is cost. They are sooo expensive, and we just don't have the ability to cover the cost. Landon loves to ride anything with wheels and rode a 2 wheel bike with no training wheels at 2 years old. He was literally meant to be on a bike. Since the day Landon came into our lives, Jordon has always talked about taking his son riding and going on small trips with their bikes together. It is a dream for them together I want to make a reality.

<div>Ultimately we are trying to raise money to buy jordon a fitted hand cycle, the cost runs well over $15,000 but we're starting small to see where we get.

<div>We would also really love the opportunity to upgrade Landons current bike to something more size appropriate and fitted for him. Any extra raised will go towards a bike for him. This kid deserves the best life experiences we can give him, and being on his bike outside with his dad would be so positive for him.

Accessible Cycle for Jordon & Bike for Landon

9 years ago my husband Jordon was in a motor vehicle accident that left him paralyzed and a quadraplegic, life for us literally changed in the blink of an eye. We didnt know if he would live or what quality of life he would even have. At 23 he now had a different path in life. <br /><br />He's always tried to keep a positive attitude regardless of the circumstance that changed his life, and his road has not been an easy one. It's been filled with frustration, emotions and roadblocks. Dispite everything,  he has never been they type to not make something of himself. His passion in life came right away in the form of wheelchair rugby. Before he even left rehab he was already talking about playing and trying out chairs.<br /><br />Jordon didn't waste any time and before long he was playing for BC traveling with the team to competitions all over. Of course his personal goals were bigger and playing on Team Canada was always the light at the end of the tunnel. Hundreds of ferry rides to Vancouver and thousands of kms in his car later and he finally made the team. The pride on his face and the excitement in his eyes came second only to the day our son was born. I have never seen him so proud of an accomplishment and so proud of himself as he was representing the team. <br /><br />After taking this past year off to be home more with his family, Jordons goal is to go back to Rugby full steam ahead but what stands between him and his dream is a metal rugby chair worth $7000. It's not a lot bit to us it's a big deal. This $7000 can make or break his potential.<br /><br />Jordon works hard every week training with a group of amazing people at PISE in Victoria that keep him focused and motivated. He helps support the locals clubs and plays twice a week in Vic and Duncan. He volunteers his time with a good friend every year to help raise money for Wheels in Motion which helps to fund new accessible equipment like swings and makes our valley more "chair friendly". The Boilermakers Lodge 359 and all the other locals have been beyond supportive for their retired brother helping to support him the whole way through.  My hope for this Go Fund Me is to raise the funds needed to get my very deserving and hard working  husband the chair he needs. <br /><br />Thank you for taking the time to read his story, and thank you from our family for lending your support.

<div>Yesterday our family received the gut-wrenching news that our beautiful Kylie May was confirmed to be one of the victims in the Tumbler Ridge school shooting. She was just 12 years old. We are completely devastated and have no words as we try to process the magnitude of the situation.

<div>Our immediate family is located on Vancouver Island as am I, but my sister just recently moved back home after being in Tumbler Ridge for nearly 12 years. She hasn't seen her daughter in a few months. Her son, Kylie's brother who just flew back up north from Vancouver Island, will need his mom more than ever right now. Kylie's dad and step mom are caring for her brother and step brother right now, and their world, our world, has crumbled.

<div>This Go Fund Me will be managed by myself and go to support my sister Desirae, my nephew Ethan, his dad &amp; stepmom, and any family immediate needs such a travel cost or expenses in the coming weeks and months. It will allow grieving family members to not worry about the financial burden of being away from work while they morn the loss of our sweet Kylie. We will also be using some of the funds for a memorial for Kylie or as her parents see fit to remember the beautiful, kind, innocent soul she was. Those details will be worked out at a later date after we have all had time to process what's happened.
