<div>My husband and I and all of my family are long term residents of Swannanoa who have recently lost our entire Mobile home park due to flooding from Hurricane Helene. Along with our home and belongings, we have also lost all of our tools and supplies for our construction business. We also had 3 sheds full of materials sat aside to build our dream home and lost all supplies for our future home. We are now stuck with nothing. Any donations will help us as we are a family of 9. Please consider helping us so we may rebuild our home and family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is really sad, we evacuated for one or two
</div>
<div>days thinking everything would be ok, we came
</div>
<div>back to our house expecting to come home when we got there , there was nothing their, this was were we lived for 19 years and where all my kids were born they all went to Elementary middle and high school and where my 12 year old went to the elementary, here behind what used to be our home the swannanoa river was were my 3 kids
</div>
<div>learned to swim and grew up and were we thought our 11 month old grand baby and our 3 month old granddaughter along with their parents and us the grandparents would teach them to swim and now there is nothing left , this is sad watching that were my kids learned to swim it took our and their homes along with other families homes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are a family of 9 ( including 3 dog). We weren’t prepared for this monstrosity, so we don’t have the money to buy a new home. With this money, we will buy a new house for a fresh start, new furniture, food, essentials, stuff, and work our way to a normal life again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Anything helps and we appreciate anything. We hope that those who were a part of Hurricane Helene are safe and well. God bless everyone

HELP A DEDICATED SWANNANOA FAMILY REBUILD AFTER HELENE

<div>Homesteading/Homeschooling Mama lost everything when she was buried alongside her 3 children in the rubble of her house in one of the worst landslides in our region.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/84119527_1731599250371844_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her beloved home of 6 years was ripped in half and slid 100 yards down the mountain. After blacking out and waking up, she immediately screamed for her babies. The next 10 hours were the most harrowing of her life as she dug her three children out of the rubble. Due to a complete communication blackout, she had to sleep on the floor of their neighbors home despite life threatening injuries.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/84119527_1731599221337574_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They were able to send out an SOS signal and her and her daughter were airlifted by helicopter to the nearest hospital. Her two other children were brought to a shelter where a DSS case was opened due to there being two unaccompanied minors.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/84119527_1731599199579092_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They eventually reunited her children with her at the hospital where they all three stayed for two weeks.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately due to someone falsely filing for FEMA, this mama was bounced from shelter to shelter and temporary hotel stays. She suffered a traumatic brain injury and this has made it hard to coordinate all of the resources she needs to get back on her feet.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/84119527_1731599305302063_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She was 2 days into staying at a home she rented for 3 months when she was brutally arrested during a "wellness check" that was called on her. 20 cop cars showed up and harassed this woman, the entire interaction was recorded and has gone viral on tiktok due to how ridiculous the interaction was. While she was held in jail on a false warrant for a different woman with the same name, her children were placed into temporary foster care. Her 4 year old son and her two daughters have been separated in different foster placements.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This mother has been through unimaginable trauma and despite being someone who needs disaster relief more than anyone else I've met, she has slipped through the cracks of the system.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our team has been with this mama every day making sure that she is receiving emotional support, nourishment, safe housing, and adequate legal council.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We need your help. We pray that FEMA assistance will be sorted eventually but for now we need immediate funds to get this mama and her children in a safe situation and help them get back on their feet.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We urgently need 5k to retain an attorney who is projected to cost 25k. We need about 10k to sign a 6 month lease on a three bedroom house to prove to DSS she has stable housing. Everything else will be used to financially support this mama to get back on her feet.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She has multiple degrees and is a master gardener. She wants to grow her business and help other mothers in this situation.
</div>

<div>Help the Bowens Family Rebuild After Hurricane Helene: A Safe, Wheelchair-Accessible Home on Family Land

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The Bowens family—Vanessa, Casey, and their three daughters, Ivey (17), Raigan (13), and Emree (7)—lost their home during Hurricane Helene, just as they were days away from completing critical renovations to make it wheelchair accessible for Raigan. Born and raised on family land passed down through generations, Vanessa and Casey are determined to rebuild near Vanessa’s parents, who live next door and also lost their home in the storm.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The floodwaters rose fast that day, reaching the family’s home by dawn and ultimately sweeping it downriver. Casey, who had poured his own labor into remodeling their historic farmhouse, waded waist-deep in water to try to secure it. Sadly, the home didn’t withstand the force of the flood, and the Bowens lost nearly everything.

</div>

<div>For now, the family is staying in an unfinished, temporary shelter. Raigan, who has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and requires constant care, cannot navigate the space easily. The family’s long-term goal is to rebuild a permanent, accessible home on higher ground, where Raigan can be comfortable and safe. The estimated cost for a small, accessible home with necessary utilities, a road suitable for a wheelchair-accessible van, and a well is $400,000.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>They have a start but need substantial help to reach their goal. The family is deeply grateful for any support to secure a safe, permanent home for their children, especially Raigan, whose comfort and security shape their daily lives.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>Your kindness can help give them a fresh start on land filled with family history and love.</strong> Every donation brings them closer to rebuilding their lives and restoring a sense of stability and peace. Thank you for standing with the Bowens during this journey.

<div><strong><em>• UPDATE BELOW •</em></strong>
</div>
<div>So, its been a daunting process. Its absurd the amount of mud and damage occurred. Its amazing the support Libre and Pam are getting in both financial and in person.
</div>
<div>Lots of donations have been made thru Venmo (seems lots of folks think GoFundMe takes a cut from the donation, but I dont belive that is true. After someone sets up their donation, GoFundMe askes for a tip for their team and thats how they get paid. Its on top of the donation.) Regardless, every little bit(a lots of them) helps greatly. Libre and Pam want to make sure everyone knows they are extremely grateful. When they eventually get a chance to settle down, you'll surely hear from them full of gratitude.
</div>
<div>As mentioned the help has been immense. Most of guts of the house have been removed from the entire downstairs to the bottom half of the entire upstairs. All the sheet rock, insulation, furniture, flooring, all they personal possessions (salvagable or not), and all the mud (or at least most of it).
</div>
<div>Still no real word from support like insurance, FEMA, etc. That will be a long process.
</div>
<div>Again, thanks for your help, with both donations and spreading the word.

<div>Here are some new pics...

<div><strong><em>• ORIGINAL INFO BELOW •</em></strong>
</div>
<div>Two of my favorite people in the world have endured a great heartbreak as their a once beautiful riverfront home was engulfed by the Swananoa River. Now that the flooding has receded they are faced with a long uninsured battle to get to any point of normalcy.
</div>
<div>You become so overwhelmed with emotion by the sheer destruction of their home.
</div>
<div>The actual house is still there, but everything inside may be a loss, as the flood waters swallowed the entire 1st floor (river side) and made its way half way up the main floor (mountain side) with an estimated rise of more than 30' with the bulk of it in less that an hour.
</div>
<div>Absolutely traumatizing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><span style="font-family:inherit;font-size:1rem;color:inherit;">We have been digging their lives out of the mud since it happened last week. Everything from their bed and furniture, their clothing, all the nick nacks from 50+ years of life, every cabinet, closet, and corridor was filled with the storm's mud. Fortunately, these are all just things and luckily they were able to save themselves. Nonetheless, they are now faced with an uphill battle to recover and salvage anything from their life before last week's devastation.</span>
</div>
<div>Like most folks in the highlands, there were given the chance to wave the exorbitant cost of flood insurance and are now faced with potentially a total loss.
</div>
<div>To add insult to injury, their endeavors in SC, The Music Camp (a music and wedding venue) also received extensive flood damage being surrounded by the Pacolet River. And to make things worse, they were robbed the day prior to the storm. Whatever the theives left was affected by this storm.
</div>
<div>Its a shame and a travesty and yet, even through the quagmire, Libre and Pam hold their heads high with a smile and an occasional tear.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you can donate, every little bit helps. Although large donations are welcome, a lot of a little makes a lot. Many hands make light work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For transparency sake if you dont know me, I am JasonG aka Jason Guadagnino; Libre's and Pam's brother from another mother, best man at their wedding and part time co-manager in some quite ridiculous parts of life. I have the time, sense, and ability to get this done, so here we are.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Libre and Pam send their gratitude, as do I.
</div>
<div>Please feel free to share this with the world.
</div>
<div>Perhaps, we as a community can make a real difference in the lives of our loved ones.

Libre & Pam's Community Love and Assistance

<div>Charlie is a dedicated beekeeper and small business owner based in Asheville, NC, whose passion for bees and sustainable agriculture has brought joy and benefits to their community. After the recent hurricane, Charlie’s beekeeping business faced significant setbacks, including the loss of hives, equipment damage, and a sudden drop in income due to city closures and affected infrastructure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Charlie’s honey, which they usually sell at local farmers markets and craft fairs, is not just a product—it represents their commitment to supporting pollinators and contributing to Asheville's local economy. However, the storm has left Charlie struggling to cover monthly expenses, replace lost hives, and recover essential equipment, all critical to sustaining their sole source of income.

<div>Charlie has off also suffered some major losses in the way of loved ones and needs some time to heal.

Support Asheville Beekeeper After Hurricane

<div>Our dear friend Paulette Sokolow lost everything in Helene at her home north of Asheville, NC.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On September 27th and 28th, Helene ravaged Western North Carolina. The area of Barnardsville was devastated by raging flood waters that some say had the strength of Niagara falls. Our dear friend, Paulette Sokolow, lives there. She and her pup, Nola, were out of town for a vet visit, and that is what saved their lives. The pump house and studio were torn in half and moved across the yard, with a large tree resting on top. The cottage was inundated with over 4 feet of water with four large trees on top. The back section of the house was moved and cracked. Mud now occupies the entire crawl space. The full acre of land is covered with up to 3 feet of river sand. Eight years of creating a sustainable garden is destroyed. Where there was once topsoil and edibles, there is now only sand and rocks. Debris from other places is scattered everywhere. Her entire store of firewood, the only heat source, is gone. The 2004 CRV is full of mud. She was left with her pup, her small car and the clothes on her back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know Paulette from the work she has done and continues to do in Nicaragua. She lived in a small community in the mountains near Esteli and worked with the local community members with seed saving and organic farming practices. She has worked on Hurricane relief efforts to feed whole villages in Nicaragua more than once. In the US, she works as an ESL teacher and helps migrant families in communities near Asheville who have been displaced from their own countries. When she was finally able to access her house, she arrived to find a group of immigrants from Guatemala ready to help her get all her soaked belongings out of the house and begin ripping out walls.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is estimated that it will take many thousands more than she will be allotted from aid sources in order to move displaced buildings, rebuild a driveway, rebuild the retaining walls (boulders were washed away!), rebuild the water system and electrical system, put on a new roof and restore her home to a livable condition, so that she can begin rebuilding the gardens and the lifestyle that sustains her. She needs help to do this.

Support Paulette and Nola's Journey to Recovery

<div>Hello, everyone. I’m reaching out to share my brother Justin’s incredible story of resilience and the urgent need for support after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Living in Burnsville, NC, he faced life-threatening floods that swept through his home, destroying almost everything he owned. While he had renters insurance, it sadly does not cover natural disasters.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In those terrifying moments, Justin not only fought to save his life but also witnessed the loss of all his possessions. Now, he’s starting over, and we’re working together to raise funds for his recovery. Once Justin has a stable living environment, he plans to then help others rebuild and build housing as he is a construction contractor.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’ve set up a GoFundMe page to help him rebuild his life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your support, no matter how small, can make a significant difference. Please consider donating and sharing this message with anyone who might be willing to help. Thank you for standing by Justin during this challenging time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From Justin De Tienne:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m reaching out for support as I’ve recently lost my home to Hurricane Helene’s devastating flooding. After barely escaping with my dog, Fisher, I’m now without stable housing and need help to rebuild my life. My community has offered me a rent-to-own plot of land where I plan to construct a 400 sqft tiny home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I don’t have experience with social media fundraising, so I’m asking for your help to start a GoFundMe or organize donations. Any contributions will go directly toward my new home and help me continue giving back to our community as I will be able to assist others conctructung and repairing their homes once I can stabilize my living conditions.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your support means the world to me during this difficult time. Thank you for considering helping me create a safe and stable space for us to recover and rebuild.

Help Support Strada’s Team After Hurricane Helene

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hey everyone! I’m a friend of Mitchs for about 18 years in Richmond Va. It’s been heartbreaking to see the destruction of Asheville and the other towns around it. A place I still hold very close to my heart. The community of friends there is so tight and i know we can come together to help the ones who got hit the hardest.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am starting this gofund me for our dear buddies Mitch Rumfelt and Sari Janczlik who recently have had their lives turned upside down by Hurricane Helene.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In a matter of hours, everything they had worked for was swept away— their home, belongings, car, and not to mention memories. They are safe now and have food and water.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The water line was well over the top of their apartment, filled with fecal river sludge. Mitch found one of his records 60ft away from their apt. They want to try to access their apt to try to see if anything is salvageable before it gets bulldozed.
</div><img class="text-editor_textEditorImage__43_GE" alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/83146271_1727824504854075_r." width="100%" />

</div>
<div>Hey, my name is Andrew Weir, and I am raising money to help either fix my family’s home or get them another one to put on the property. <strong>With Hurricane Helene that hit Swannanoa, so many homes were destroyed, and I am doing my best to help them have a home to live in.</strong>
</div>
<div>Our goal is to come up with an rv while rebuilding our home as we can afford to do so. If money can’t be donated help on cleaning and rebuilding our house would be just as grateful.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We lost our family home during the flood in Swannanoa, N.C., during Hurricane Helene.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>I have a disabled mother, and my father barely brings enough financially to pay monthly bills.</strong> Our house is still standing but is going to need so much work it is basically not repairable.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Anything helps just to keep everyone off the streets. Even donating labor to help fix what is there would be greatly appreciated.</strong>

Help Restore Hope for a Deserving Family

<div>My sister, Rene Treece, has been deeply affected by the devastation of Hurricane Helene, and any support you can offer would mean the world to her and our family. Words can’t fully express our gratitude for your kindness, whether through a small gesture or a larger contribution.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>More than five weeks have passed since Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina, and Rene is still struggling to find a sense of normalcy in her life and work in Asheville. She has spent countless hours helping others in need, but the reality of her own situation is becoming overwhelming.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Rene and her daughter face enormous challenges as she tries to restore her home and small business, a cherished photography studio that once thrived in Asheville’s River Arts District. Her home suffered extensive water and mold damage, and navigating the claims process with insurance and FEMA has proven frustrating and largely unsuccessful. She is now facing substantial out-of-pocket costs for critical repairs to her home, including mold remediation and structural work. Compounding this, her family has been without safe, usable water for an extended time, with no clear end in sight as infrastructure repairs continue.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Cotton Mill Studio, where Rene ran her photography business, was hit by catastrophic flooding that left the building submerged under 12 feet of water for days. As a result, her studio is unusable for the foreseeable future, forcing her to cease operations just as her business would typically be busiest. She was able to recover items from her Studio, but many will need to be replaced due to moisture and mold damage.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With her workspace and livelihood on hold and the financial strain of home repairs, Rene is facing significant setbacks. It will take time for her to rebuild her studio and create a stable environment for herself and her daughter in Asheville.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for considering any form of help for Rene during this incredibly challenging time. Your generosity and support will make a meaningful difference as she works to rebuild her life and business.
</div>

<div>ABOUT RENE -
</div>
<div>In the midst of this catastrophe, Rene has dedicated herself entirely to volunteering and assisting those in need. Each morning, she is awake before the sun looking for ways to help. She has organized a collection of funds from family and friends, using this financial support to purchase essential groceries and emergency supplies, including flashlights, personal protective equipment, warm clothing, baby necessities, gas, and even generators for those in need. On day 6, when I asked Rene if she had taken a warm shower yet, her response was, "Not yet. I could, but that doesn't seem fair."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Moreover, Rene has taken on the critical role of conducting wellness checks, ensuring that her neighbors and community members are safe and accounted for. She has taken daily trips into the mountains to deliver food, medication, and vital supplies to individuals who are still stranded and affected by the disaster. Her selflessness and determination to uplift others during such trying times are truly inspiring.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>HERE ARE WHAT PEOPLE SAY -
</div>
<div>"Rene has physically shown up every day for the community and now her asking for help is an opportunity for her blessings to come."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Rene is such a leader and stands strong and I just hope people can help her now."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Thank you René for all you are doing. It gives people hope!"
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Before Rene checked on her studio, she threw herself into helping neighbors and strangers."

Support Rene's Hurricane Recovery and Community Efforts

<div>Living Medicine Institute, Responder Support Services, and Concierge Medicine and Psychiatry, mental health organizations in WNC, are partnering to create programming to support our First Responder Community in the Asheville area.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>We are starting with a two-day supportive retreat for RSS therapists embedded with first responders and carrying first responder caseloads.</strong> These individuals have been heavily burdened in their dual role, supporting the mental health of the broader responder community while coping with their own losses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The first retreat will take place in October or November on the donated retreat property of Rites of Passage Council, near Asheville. The purpose will be to support these individuals and assist with acute trauma processing work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Depending on the amount raised, we would like to continue to offer more of these events for the First Responder Community. <strong>Funds raised will pay for ongoing costs: event spaces, staffing, food, and lodging.</strong> Thank you.

<div>Johnathon Grubb (JP), is a dedicated small business owner in Western North Carolina. This skilled custom carpenter lost nearly everything in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene. While preparing to build a home on his land, he stored all of his personal belongings and tools in a storage unit—only for the storm to destroy it all. Though he’s been focused on helping others in the Asheville area recover, he now faces the overwhelming task of rebuilding his life and business without the tools and possessions he relied on.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please consider donating to support this hardworking and resilient member of our community as he begins the long road to recovery. Below, you can read about the harrowing ordeal he endured during the devastation that struck his area and many others nearby.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"The hovering of helicopters and screams of sirens begins to fade as we are starting to take stock of what has happened. Their noise was so constant and comforting during the flood that help was on its way. This storm literally blew us away as Western North Carolina floated down a river. It worsens everyday in the aftermath. Everyone I can remember to contact is thankfully safe, but I know many are not that lucky. We have been digging and cutting out, delivering supplies, and trying to stay positive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I lost most of my life. While rebuilding my home I have had a storage unit that held almost everything I owned. It also held most of the tools I use to run my carpentry business. Right now I'm trying desperately to use the few tools I had in my work vehicle to help anyone I can reach. Commutation has been slow and difficult to coordinate substantial help and I find myself mainly gathering and delivering supplies."

Help Rebuild a Family's Hope After Disaster

<div>Amidst the devastation and flooding in Ashville, many friends have been affected. The Little Brave family was residing alongside the edge of the Ivy River and was hit incredibly hard. Michael Little Brave, the new clan chief leader, and his wife and five beautiful daughters have had their home wiped away almost entirely. Worse yet, Michael's at-home mechanic shop Little Savage Auto was in the backyard and washed away entirely during the storm. A lifetime of tools, livelihood, bee hives, memories, and daily life essentials have all been decimated. Currently, they are living in a hotel, and this is a family that has taken me in and prayed with and for me for well over a decade. All of them have lost their home and most of their worldly goods. I am setting this up on their behalf in this dire crisis. A final point - insurance won't cover anything as flood insurance is not provided historically in Asheville, NC because it doesn't flood; this is a "1,000-year" flood that has devasted so many - including my good friends and family the Little Braves, a sicangu lakota native family who has always helped so many people for as long as I have known them. Please help as much as you can, or feel free to share.

Support Dulce's Family Rebuilding After the Storm

<div>As many of you know hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina and has left it in complete devastation. My sister and her partner live in Weaverville NC and were tragically affected, and have unfortunately lost their home as well as their cars due to many fallen trees. They and their 5 cats thankfully made it out of the house before its destruction, but they are now left with no vehicles and no home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They will be using whatever we can raise to help and replacing their cars and funding their next housing situation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They have a safe place to stay while figuring out what to do, that being said please donate and if you aren’t in a position to do that please share. Thank you!!

Help restore stability for Verite and Gabe

<div>Unfortunately, Hurricane Helene hit our home on Friday, September 27. It destroyed our home into pieces, leaving us with no choice but to leave. We are from Swannanoa, North Carolina. It hit Swannanoa pretty roughly, and since we live next to the swannanoa river, it damaged our house severely.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are a family of 4 (5 including the dog). We weren’t prepared for this monstrosity, so we don’t have the money to buy a new home. <strong>With this money, we will buy a new house for a fresh start, new furniture, food, essentials, crops, and work our way to a normal life again.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Anything helps and we appreciate anything.</strong> We hope that those who were a part of Hurricane Helene are safe and well. God bless❤️
