<div>We are the Forster family, and we lost our homes in Altadena, along with our neighbors, in the Eaton Canyon Wildfire. My sister and I, are raising funds to provide stability for our families, regain our footing after the fire, and continue to give back to our Communities. Altadena Family's Hope After Fire!

<div>My name is Maxton Scotland, and today, I reach out to you with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit on behalf of my beloved mother, Hazzel Scotland. Our family is in the midst of a dire medical emergency that has not only tested our resilience but also our faith in miracles. Hazzel, a remarkable woman whose life has been a beacon of strength and love, is fighting a fierce battle against stage 4 colon cancer that has mercilessly spread to her ovaries.

This news was a devastating blow to her and all of us, inspired by her unwavering spirit. Hazzel is not just a mother; she is a pillar of strength that has held our family together, especially as we faced many trying times, including mental health trials and myself not yet in remission after battling a brain tumour for ten years.

<div>In a heart-wrenching turn of events, despite her status as an armed forces dependent, we were informed that she could not be covered under the NHS for the urgent medical treatment she critically needs. We are now confronted with the daunting task of raising £12,036.00 to clear her medical bills and secure the surgery that could potentially save her life. This amount is far beyond our family's financial reach, but we are hopeful that with your kindness and support, we can give my Mum the fighting chance she deserves.

A Brave Mother’s  Battle Against Stage 4 Cancer

<p>On 9 April 2021, after months of heightened activity, the La Soufrière volcano entered an explosive state on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Thanks to an efficient evacuation effort, no lives were lost. However, it is estimated that 20,000 persons have been displaced to date and the island nation’s entire population has been adversely impacted by the disaster in one way or another.

<p>The eruption comes as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is recovering from its largest COVID-19 surge, and the region’s worst dengue outbreak in recent history. La Soufrière will likely continue to erupt in the coming weeks and maybe even months, causing what Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has described as “a slow-moving humanitarian disaster”. The long-term effects of a protracted eruption on agriculture and tourism, which are the mainstays of the Vincentian economy, will further exacerbate the already devastating socioeconomic impact of COVID-19.

<p>This is a fundraising appeal launched by the United Nations Staff Relief Committee for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, chaired by HE Ambassador Rhonda King, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, under the auspices of the New York Staff Union. All proceeds will be deposited directly to the SVG Government’s Volcanic Emergency Relief Drive.
