<div>Hi, for those of you that don't know me, my name is Joy. I am the proud sister of <strong>Daniel Meloy a.k.a. Spook</strong>. I am here today starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my brother, a disabled veteran who is now facing the fight of his life.

<div>Let me start by filling you all in on my courageous brother's story over the last handful of years. In order for you to get the whole picture we'll need to go back awhile. So let's start back around 6 1/2 - 7 years ago. Well... Here it is.

<div>After battling and beating colon cancer in 2018-2019, he had routine bloodwork done that just wasn't right. It was at this point in 2019 that he was given a diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia, a blood cancer that does not have a cure but is treatable. After this diagnosis, he treated it accordingly by following his doctors instruction and has now been living with it as part of his daily routine along with dealing with the treatments that go along with it for 6+ years.

<div>On June 17, 2025, he was traveling to my house for a visit when something came over him. He became very ill very quickly, as though his body was telling him something. For that reason, he headed straight to the E.R. After 4 long hours, they came to him with devastating news. <strong>His cancer has metastasized. It has spread to both his liver and one lung, making his diagnosis terminal.</strong>

<div>This illness is not only taking a toll on him physically, mentally,emotionally, and financially, it is also deeply impacting his immediate family. His daughter, his twin sisters, their kids, and sadly especially his grandbabies who are first hand witnessing their Papa go through this immense life changing struggle while not fully understanding it.

<div>However, if you know my brother Dan, it will come as no surprise that he is refusing to give up. Rather, the exact opposite, his spirit remains unbroken. With Dan's unwavering positive attitude and determination, he has chosen to take on this challenge with extraordinary courage and a deep commitment to exploring every possible avenue for both healing and prolonging his life. With that, Dan has decided to combine the expertise of his oncologist and their team at the Veteran's Hospital along with holistic healing methods, walking his 8-10 miles a day, and is also adhering to a newly introduced vigorous diet. A diet of clean and healthy eating. He is absolutely fighting with everything he has, and all with the most positive, determined attitude. His dedication to fighting this disease with every ounce of his being is truly inspiring.

<div>To know my brother Dan is to love him. He has always been the guy that will go above and beyond to help others at any given opportunity. He's the guy that would give the shirt off his back to help another, strangers, family, or friend alike. He is not only a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. who started sacrificing for his country at the young age of 17, but is also such an important part in so many peoples lives. He is a cherished father, a devoted grandfather, a supportive brother, a fun-loving uncle, and a truly amazing friend. It is for all of these reasons that our family kindly ask for your love and support. Help us to gift him more moments to watch his grandchildren grow, and to continue showering his loved ones with his humor, love and time to continue to make new memories.

<div>Dan has unwavering strength and determination to live his life to the fullest not just for himself, but also for those who love and depend on him. Over the course of the last 7 years of his life he has silently and bravely taken on Cancer in multiple forms. Never asking anyone for anything rather humbly carrying these heavy burdens himself. I say let's make that a thing of the past and flood my amazing brother with all things good.

<div><strong>For all these reasons we are fundraising to support Dan's medical treatments, holistic healing methods, as well as to help with his daily living expenses, and hopefully to raise enough that he is able to get out and LIVE as he so desperately deserves during this challenging time.</strong> It is with great gratitude that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all forms of support for Dan.
