What they care about

PSH is a small self funded family sanctuary that is home to 15 horses that now have a safe space.

Help Us Keep Going – Hay, Veterinary Care & Animal Welfare Fundraiser For those who don't know us, we are a small equine sanctuary dedicated to giving neglected, unwanted, elderly and vulnerable horses and ponies a safe place to call home. Every animal that comes through our gates has a story. Some arrive frightened, underweight, neglected or facing an uncertain future. Others come to us because their owners can no longer care for them. Regardless of their past, every horse, pony, donkey, cat and other animal in our care is given the same promise – they will be loved, cared for and never have to worry again. Running a sanctuary is incredibly rewarding, but it is also a constant financial challenge. The cost of feed, hay, bedding, veterinary care, farrier visits, worming, fencing repairs and general day-to-day care continues to rise. We work tirelessly to ensure every animal receives the care they deserve, often putting their needs before our own. Recently we have been hit particularly hard by increasing hay costs and ongoing veterinary expenses. As we head into the coming months, we need a little extra help to ensure we can continue providing the high standard of care our residents rely on. Our goal is to raise £1,000, which will be split between: Hay supplies – ensuring our horses and ponies have quality forage and never go without. Veterinary bills – helping us reduce outstanding veterinary costs and ensuring we can continue providing treatment whenever it is needed. Supporting Suki and her kittens – We are currently fostering Suki and her litter on behalf of Kats Cradle. Funds raised will help contribute towards their veterinary expenses, including vaccinations, microchipping for the kittens and, when the time comes, Suki's spay operation. By supporting this fundraiser, you're not only helping our sanctuary animals but also helping give this lovely little family the best possible start in life. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a genuine difference. If 100 people donated just £10, we would reach our goal. If you're unable to donate, simply sharing our fundraiser could help us reach someone who can. Because of your support, we've been able to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals, provide lifelong sanctuary to those who need it most, and step in to help other rescues whenever we can. We never take that support for granted. The reality is that sanctuaries and rescues everywhere are struggling. Rising costs and reduced donations are making it harder than ever to continue our work, but we remain committed to every animal in our care. With your help, we can continue providing safe homes, full bellies, veterinary care and brighter futures. From all of us – both two-legged and four-legged – thank you for believing in what we do. Your kindness helps keep our gates open and allows us to continue giving vulnerable animals the safe, loving future they deserve. Thank you for supporting our sanctuary and the animals who call it home. ❤️
Hi, my name is Kirsty and I am the proud founder of Pegasus Safe Haven. A safe space for ponies and horses to come to heal and live out their days with comfort and love. We have been running for around 3 years now and have helped over 30 ponies, many of which remain here at Pegasus or in trusted lifelong loan homes - currently we have 17 in our care. Many of these horses have come from homes who have failed to meet their basic needs, and most would not be here without the care and dedication of our wonderful team of volunteers and my supportive family and friends. We are completely funded through our own wages and generous donations from people like yourself. One of our very kind hearted volunteers "Charlie" has bravely volunteered to carry out a sponsored Skydive in order to raise funds to help keep us going. If you've ever attempted or seen a skydive then you will appreciate that this is a massive achievement and we'd like to ask everyone to sponsor this amazing feat! We are working towards becoming a registered charity but unfortunately these things take time. We are very open that we have no official status at the moment however keep a record of all donations and where they go to. 100% of your donation will go into the horses care and wellbeing. Recently I have unfortunately broken my wrist whilst working with one of our more difficult ponies. This is going to make next months bills extremely difficult to cover as I cannot work . Alongside the lack of funds (I will be losing a few weeks wages which usually would go into horse care), this year has been the hardest we have ever faced with grazing and this sponsorship will help us keep doing what we do at the level we do it. Although our sparse grazing is usually perfectly suited to the ponies we keep, as most have a history of medical conditions that worsen with sugar intake. The recent dry conditions have hit us extremely hard. Our horses always receive hay throughout the year due to the health benefits this has. However at the moment we are spending approximately £300-500 per month on hay alone just to keep them in condition. On top of this all of the horses get feed daily and many of the horses in our care require added supplements and feed additives to keep them healthy. This means that per month we are having to find appropriately £700 just for feed/forage without adding in the regular dental checks, farrier fees, vets fees, physio and other added routine care needs. On a normal year this is completely manageable however with recent circumstances we are really going to struggle. This fundraiser will mean that next month we can keep the horses fed and ensure that we remain secure in the run up to winter. Honestly, I'm not sure how we are going to get through the next few months without support from kind hearted people like yourself. Our volunteers get so much out of the horses and environment and is a massive benefit to both people and the ponies we save. Every single person who comes to us is treated like part of the family. We laugh together, cry together and get absolutely filthy and exhausted together. Pegasus is a place that accepts and welcomes all ages, abilities, ethnicities, differences and enables people and horses to heal through mutual respect and love. Without your sponsorship we will really struggle this time so please if you can donate we would be forever grateful. Even if you aren't in a position to donate, we'd like to invite and encourage each and every one of you to visit the ponies and team at one of our volunteers sessions (advertised on our Facebook page) to see what a difference the project makes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts from everyone at @PegasusSafeHaven.
