<div>On Monday, August 10th, Odin Hensley, a senior on the Lake Travis Varsity Football team, experienced a serious medical emergency during football practice. Odin suffered cardiac arrest at practice and was taken by Travis County STAR Flight. He is currently in the intensive care unit of Dell Childrens receiving care, and his family is facing an incredibly scary and uncertain time.

<div>Right now, Odin’s parents are by his side at the hospital, focused completely on him and hoping and praying for his recovery. Doctors are worried about his brain and organs, and the family does not yet know what the outcome will be. On top of this fear and uncertainty, his parents are also missing work so they can stay with their son through every moment of this crisis.

<div>This fundraiser is being organized to help take some of that financial stress off their shoulders. The money raised will go toward hospital bills, rehabilitation, and helping cover lost income while Odin’s parents take the time they need to be with him. The last thing this family should have to worry about right now is how they are going to manage financially when all of their energy needs to be on Odin and his healing.

<div>This is a fundraiser I never dreamed I would have to create. My name is Kourtni Smith. I recently celebrated my 34th birthday in September. I am currently in hospice and writing this from the Hospice Room. With the unfortunate reality that I don't have much long on this Earth. Everyday is a struggle mentally and physically. In 2021, I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. At that time I was breastfeeding my then 7 month old son. Unable to nurse him from my breast inhibited by a tumor. I had a mammogram performed and received my diagnosis. That day my life changed forever, I was instructed to undergo 8 rounds of Chemotherapy and 15 radiation sessions. However, after the 3rd round of Chemo, I fell more ill and discovered my body could not tolerate the chemotherapy. I am now faced with the hard decision of preparing myself, my husband and our children for my departure.

<div>I have young, sensitive, creative and intelligent children that I want to support through this world. My dream would be to hold their hands and guide them into adulthood, but that dream is slipping away. My cancer metastasized to my bones and my brain, which causes limited activity with my children.

End of Life, young mom with terminal Cancer

Hello family and friends. Let me tell you a little story. As a child I was in cheerleading, track and field, softball and along with that came many, many competitions and long hours of training and practice. Through all of this I was lucky to have my mother at her prime pushing me (and driving me crazy) every step of the way. She was both my biggest supporter and coach in cheerleading and softball. She never missed a practice, game or competition. She played ball herself and loved every minute of it. As I got older we had our own Co-Ed softball team that we absolutely loved. It was our go to thing, the one thing we were always able to have fun with together. As the years went on my mother had some pretty huge obstacles to overcome, from breast cancer to a lung nodule and now severe rheumatoid arthritis. She overcame the worst of it but now is at a point where she doesn't feel like the same woman she once was. The fun, outgoing, athletic woman she loved to be. Due to the arthritis she now has a completely obliterated hip and is in desperate need of a total hip replacement. Unfortunately, her current job does not offer medical insurance and she was past the due date to sign up for the oh so amazing obamacare. Her employer is trying to find ways to help and her surgeon was able to drop the amount of the surgery but let's be real, without insurance it's practically going to cost her her other hip. As a daughter that was able to have her at her best, I ask for help so that all of her grandchildren will be able to have the woman I did when I was younger. They deserve it and so does she. I ask if anyone can find it in the kindness of their heart to help with her current situation and donate whatever you can, anything helps. Let's help her out of this darkness so she can walk strong again with her family. Thank you.
