I’m a 36-year-old father of 2, a husband, an IT support specialist/manager, and a friend to everyone I can be. <strong>I was also recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.</strong> I am asking for help so I can continue being so many different things to so many people, but most importantly, I want to continue my life with my family and watching my kids be able to grow into the wonderful adults I know they’ll be. <strong>To get there, I need help.</strong>

<div>I was laid off from my job at the end of January, and thanks to a very tough job market, I am currently in a short-term contract job that I might not be able to continue working at consistently once I start treatment.

<div>Over the last 9-12 months, my family and I haven’t had the greatest of years. During a routine blood test, my kidney values were out of whack, so I got to start down that journey, eventually finding out that I am stage 3B for chronic kidney disease. Luckily, so far that has been pretty stable.

<div>Around the same time, I was having chest pains which led to having my gallbladder removed. In the pathology report, they noted that there was Amyloid located in the gallbladder, which in itself is very rare. Normally, when proteins are folded correctly, they just slide off your organs and go where they’re supposed to. Once they misfold, they turn into Amyloid and generally collect on multiple organs and, if left untreated, can lead to organ failure. In my case, I’m currently looking at kidneys and heart. At that point, I was recommended to an oncologist since they typically end up working with Amyloid more often.

<div>From diagnosing the issue with an oncologist through a variety of blood draws, different scans, and one bone marrow biopsy so far, I have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma with an incidental finding of “B-Cell lymphocytosis,” which means while I haven’t developed it yet, I could also develop a form of leukemia.

<div>I’m still waiting on full details for a treatment plan, but what I’ve been told is to expect about 3-4 rounds of cancer treatment, followed by around 3-4 weeks in the hospital for a bone marrow transplant. During that time, my immune system will be completely removed and rebuilt, so I will only be able to spend limited time with my friends and family.

<div>Normally, I’m used to being the one to help others, so it feels strange asking for help, but I think this is one of the few times in my life that I don’t have many other choices. <strong>Anything you can provide will help with meals, transportation costs, living expenses, and most importantly, helping to keep my wife’s sanity while I’m going through treatment.</strong> The only other thing I can say is thank you for supporting me and my family.

Support Matthew's Fight Against Myeloma

Hello family and friends this is my daughter Allyssa my son in law Ronnie and my beautiful granddaughter Nevaeh. Many of you may not know this but on April 4, 2020 Ronnie suffered 2 seizures at home and when that happened he was rushed to the hospital in Round Rock Texas where they reside upon getting to the hospital they ran alot of test as well as a  CT scan that proved Ronnie has  a brain aneurysm. During his hospital stay he had 2 more seizures and had to get an angiogram procedure done to see deeper into what is going on in his brain where we found out he has a 20mm brain aneurysm. He has been informed that it is very treatable as long as he can move forward with the surgery process. There are two ways this can be done and either one of them are in our budget and unfortunately Ronnie  had not been at his job long enough to receive medical insurance. Although we know there are several Grant's and programs he will qualify for it will not cover the amount of down payment that the hospital is requiring. Ronnie is a very hard working man who has been capable of everything a normal man is capable of and is now not able to even pick up his own daughter. He is a very strong man and will get through this with the grace of god and all of those reaching out and praying. If you have it in your financial capability to help with funds for his down payment for surgery it would mean the entire world. Anyone who know me personally knows that I will personally give a person the shirt off my back to help a family member or friend in need. I ask again if you are able please help with any amount so Ronnie can get set for surgery and can move on to the healing process. His sweet little girl Nevaeh needs her daddy to heal so he can pick her up again as before. They have always been welcoming, hosting family and friends, and exchange students over the years. My parents have also hosted two weddings in their backyard.

<div>This year, my family made a trip to visit for the holidays. I learned that they have found signs of termites, so I started getting quotes, and they discovered the entire attic to be rank with rodent urine and feces. <strong>My parents would be loath to see this revelation, but I need to figure out a way to fix this for them.</strong> Upon consideration, my parents' recent health issues may be related to the rodents.

<div>My mom used a lot of her savings to repair the leaking roof and plumbing last year. I'm working on getting other quotes to help the issue, but so far, the quotes exceed my budget. Given my parents always helping others, I thought I would see if others might help them. <strong>I want my parents to feel comfortable hosting others again, but I think until their rodent problem is addressed, it might not be safe.</strong>
