Hi, my name is Kate. I’m a Registered Nurse and have been nursing for 14 years. I currently work in haemodialysis, caring for people living with kidney failure.
Working in dialysis has shown me firsthand just how much kidney disease can affect a person’s everyday life. For many of our patients, dialysis isn’t simply a hospital appointment, it becomes a major part of their lives. People receiving haemodialysis can spend around 60 hours every month connected to a dialysis machine.
That’s why this October I’m taking part in Kidney Health Australia’s Red Socks Challenge. The challenge represents those approximately 60 hours spent on dialysis each month, and I'll be getting moving throughout October to help raise awareness and funds for Australians affected by kidney disease.
Why am I fundraising?
Kidney disease affects individuals and their families in so many ways. I want to do something beyond my everyday nursing role to support the kidney community that means so much to me.
Funds raised will support Kidney Health Australia and their work helping Australians affected by kidney disease, including support and information for patients and families, kidney health education and awareness, advocacy, and research.
Every contribution, large or small, is appreciated. And if donating isn't possible, simply sharing my fundraiser can help enormously.
Thank you for supporting my challenge and helping me make a difference for people living with kidney disease. ❤️
All donations are tax deductable and a receipt will be sent to your email address.
