Our sweet son Silas is a happy, energetic little boy who loves to run, play, and keep us on our toes. What started as a high fever and cough quickly became a life-threatening medical emergency.
We first took Silas to St. George Regional Hospital when he developed a high fever and severe cough. He was diagnosed with rhinovirus and sent home, even though he still had a fever of 102.9. The next day, we returned when he began having severe pain in his right leg. We were told it was likely body soreness from the virus and were sent home again.
Over the next several days, Silas continued to get worse. His fever remained high, he stopped eating, and the energetic little boy we knew became so weak that he could barely move. On September 11th, we returned to the hospital because he could no longer walk on his right leg. Once again, we were sent home.
That night, everything changed. Around 9:30 PM, Silas’s skin turned purple and yellow from head to toe. His heart rate was nearly 200, medical staff struggled to get an oxygen reading, and he was in severe pain.
Extensive testing finally revealed the severity of what was happening. Silas was severely dehydrated, had a blood clot in his right leg, and was showing signs of liver failure. He was life-flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City for specialized care.
Our family is heartbroken and devastated that St. George Regional Hospital failed to recognize how seriously ill Silas was and did not give him the correct diagnosis when we repeatedly brought him in for help.
Silas has since undergone emergency open-heart surgery and is currently in stable condition. However, he has an incredibly long and difficult road ahead of him. He will likely lose one, and possibly both, of his legs, and may also lose his hands. He will require plastic surgery on his face, along with many more surgeries, rehabilitation, and extensive medical care.
Right now, our family is focused on one thing: being there for Silas and helping him fight through this.
The unexpected medical expenses, travel to Salt Lake City, meals, time away from work, and everything that comes with caring for a critically ill child are quickly becoming overwhelming.
Our family is asking for help during one of the most frightening and heartbreaking times of our lives. If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. If you cannot donate, sharing Silas’s story and keeping him in your thoughts and prayers means more to us than we can put into words.
KUTV recently shared Silas’s story and what our family is going through. You can read their story here:

Thank you for standing with Silas and our family as we fight for our little boy. We are so grateful for every prayer, share, donation, and message of support.

A Fight For Our Little Boys Life

<div>The Sanchez family has resided in Los Angeles for over 18 years since Jahziel, now 21, was just 3 years old. The family lived comfortably, paid taxes, acquired no criminal record, and worked to achieve the American dream. Jahziel, the eldest, works as a barber and graduated high school and pursued higher education. Axel and Violette, 16 and 7, also currently attend school and receive good grades with the older of the two looking to follow in his brother's footsteps to become a barber.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On August 21, 2025, Jahziel was targeted by ICE outside of his workplace. They waited until I, Jahziel's girlfriend, picked him up where they followed us for over 25 minutes until he stepped out of the vehicle where they chased him down until he was able to get indoors and take refuge. For over 20 minutes they chastised him and threatened to go after his family and his girlfriend's family unless he gave himself up.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, he and his parents are afraid to go to work and need help covering a few month's rent in order to be able to safely refuge until the situation blows over or they receive legal help and representation. We need your help to allow this family to live fear free without worry of money until we can get everything sorted out for them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They are asking for help, not for luxuries, not for handouts, but simply to cover a few months of rent while they seek legal protection. This small act of support can mean the difference between stability and despair, between children who feel safe and children who cry themselves to sleep wondering if their brother and family will disappear.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please, help the Sanchez family breathe again. Help them live without fear, if only for a little while, as they fight for the right to remain together. The right to keep dreaming in the only home they’ve ever known.
