<div>This was not the summer the Obey family had planned. Owen had been experiencing occasional pain in the leg that he broke when he was two years old. When they took him to his orthopedic surgeon to get it checked out, they received devastating news. Their sweet boy more than likely had osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer.

<div>After the diagnosis was confirmed, their wonderful team of doctors, nurses, and medical professionals were able to develop a treatment plan and start chemotherapy almost immediately. Owen had a port placed, underwent countless tests, multiple doctor visits and hospital stays, all while trying to enjoy being a 6-year-old boy who just finished kindergarten. He was a trooper through it all, even earning the award for bravest patient at one of his appointments.

<div> Unfortunately, the pain in his leg has continued to get worse. His tiny body is fighting this thing with everything he’s got. Owen continues to go through his rigid and challenging chemotherapy treatment schedule.  He will need chemotherapy both before and after surgery for a total of around 8 months.

</div>
<div> Surgery is inevitable, as bone tumors need to be removed completely. Choosing the type of surgery was an extremely difficult decision to make for his parents, Chelsi and Wyatt, being that Owen’s life will be permanently altered regardless of which option they chose. Ultimately, they chose the best option for Owen so he can remain an active child without physical limitations.  If all continues to go as planned, Owen will have rotationplasty surgery, a form of amputation, sometime at the end of September.  Owen will require the use of a prosthetic leg- likely many of them as he continues to grow over the years.  He will also need physical therapy to help him learn how to walk again and use the prosthetic leg.  Chelsi and Wyatt also hope to get a walk-in shower for Owen, so that he can remain as independent, and safe, as possible.  Independence is very important to Owen, even at 6 years old.

<div>As you can imagine, this family’s life and dynamic has been forever changed. With their two younger children, Cooper (2) and Decker (6 months), to care for, Chelsi and Wyatt are taking things one day at a time. The three boys are their main concern and priority; however, they also have professional and financial obligations that need to be taken into consideration.

<div>Chelsi and Wyatt have been working when they can while also being intentional about being with Owen during treatment and spending time together as a family. While they are not ones to ask for help, this family could sure use an army to surround and support them. All types of support are needed during crisis, but the purpose of this request is for financial support.  Thankfully, their employers have been very understanding in allowing time off of work to care for Owen.  Wyatt recently started a new job this year and Chelsi was off work for maternity leave in February, so neither have FMLA job protection during this time.  Wyatt has mostly been off work without pay, and Chelsi is quickly exhausting what is left of her paid time off and the generous donation of PTO from co-workers. If you are able to support financially, this family would be forever grateful.

Help Owen Fight, Childhood Cancer!

<div>Enock lost his parents in a car accident at an early age. He was living on the streets for some time until a local church orphanage in Mityana Uganda found and took him in.

<div>Without education during his upbringing, he was unable to secure a well-paying job.
</div>

</div>
<div>God has put on his heart to help orphans and he is currently looking after 18 orphans.
</div>
<div>He relies mainly on sponsors to pay the rent, electricity, food and school fees.
</div>

</div>
<div>We have created this fundraiser on Enock's behalf to do our best to raise money for them to buy a plot of land to build on.

<div>(we have now done that, along with a van and now building the orphanage on that land)

<div>Murray thought of himself as the luckiest guy in the world when he overcame a double lung transplant 12 years ago. Murray has suffered with Cystic Fibrosis all of his life and he was weeks away from death when he received the call that he was about to get a second chance at life.

<div>Murray has been living life to the fullest ever since. He has always been tge  happiest guy in any room no matter what he has been going through. 
</div>
<div>He celebrates his new lungs every year with what he calls his Lung-iversary with his wife Danielle who was his high school sweetheart and his 4 beautiful kids who are 6, 4 and twins who are 2. Having kids didn’t come easy but they were determined and conceived through IVF. 
</div>

<div>Last year right after their oldest son’s 6 th birthday Murray suffered a seizure. This lead to the devastating diagnosis of an apple sized tumour in his brain. 
</div>
<div>The tumour was removed but a biopsy showed it was stage 3 meaning it is incurable. Even though they removed what they could see it is without a doubt it’ll grow back. 
</div>

<div>Being the fighter Murray is he jumped right into radiation and chemotherapy to gain as much time as he can with the beautiful family he and Danielle have created.

<div>They don’t deserve the cards they’ve been dealt but they deserve incredible memories that Danielle and the kids can cherish forever.

<div>I met this family as I was exploring the floods and they offered to help me in my tough situation and they helped even tho , this has been their situation for 43 years. She prays to God every single day for a better life.

<div>On the 20/9/24 Rebekah was diagnosed with acute b-cell lymphoblastic leukaemia Philadelphia positive which had progressed from 20% to 80% in three days, by Monday it’s sitting at 100% of leukaemia cells. It is aggressively and rapidly growing within her bone marrow and blood.

<div>On Sunday the 22/9/24 we had been told it quadrupled to 80% in 3 days. On Monday 23/9/24 Rebekah was advised that without treatments, a maximum of 2 weeks to live was to be expected.

<div>Monday we started a week of prephase steroids which initially started to lower the leukemia cells, they then unfortunately started to rise back up again. Changing to a stronger steroid has allowed us to start cycle 1 of chemo therapy which will go for 28 days consisting of chemo in a pill, through the Hickman and spinal tapping.


</div>


<div>Cycle 2 will commence after and go 14 days. 


</div>


<div>If all is responding well Rebekah can continue chemotherapy as an outpatient. 


</div>

</div>
<div>Rebekah’s only chance of survival will be an allogeneic bone marrow transplant. 
</div>

</div>


<div>On behalf of our sister Rebekah, we have put together a go fund me to help support her while she battles against her second fight with cancer. The funding will be going towards a bone marrow transplant, upcoming various cancer treatments and to help with daily living expenses.

Rebekah’s fight against leukaemia

<div>I'm reaching out with something heavy on my heart about my mum, and it's not an easy story to share.

<div>Meet my mum, shes 45 and been married to my dad since they were practically kids at 15. Together, they built a life with us four kids, and recently, the newest joy in our lives, my daughter Lotus, Mums first grandchild.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mum is a hard worker, known for her great work ethic, unwavering loyalty and an outstanding reputation in our community. You might even recognize her as the strong, fit lady at the gym, living a healthy and active lifestyle, and competing as a female figure bodybuilder.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In Jan 2023 Mum began experiencing Dysphagia, eating was a real challenge. At first she thought it was just indigestion and heartburn until it reached the point where even water became a struggle to swallow.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Concerned, she headed to the GP for answers. After a series of laparoscopies, gastroscopy, and numerous scans and blood tests, the heartbreaking truth emerged – Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic gastrointestinal cancer on March 17th, 2023.
</div>
<div>It hit us all like a ton of bricks. Our family, once carefree is now grappling with the reality of cancer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our Mum the soldier that she is began treatment that consisted of fortnightly sessions of – 12 rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and participation in a clinical trial, which started on the July 3rd, 2023.
</div>
<div>Life, as we knew it, was put on hold as we focused on helping Mum get better.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The past six months have been a rollercoaster of hope and then disappointment. Mum's resilience in the face of relentless side effects is nothing short of inspiring. Every fortnight, she battles through one week of illness, followed by a week of recovery, only to bravely start the cycle all over again.
</div>
<div>Painful neuropathy in her face, hands, and feet, brain fog, loss of her taste buds and appetite, have become constant companions in this challenging journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite our collective efforts, the results have been heartbreaking. The tumours have grown in Mums upper stomach, spreading to her lower abdomen and both her ovaries. The reality is harsh – the oncologists have told Mum that her cancer is incurable, and cannot be surgically removed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mum was scheduled for another 12 rounds which kicked off just after Christmas last year, but time is slipping away. They have told Mum should she continue with the current treatment plan she has roughly 12 -24 months left with us, but our Mum is tough and she refuses to accept this or let this disease beat her! 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Refusing to accept defeat, and after much research Mum has decided to seek alternative treatment overseas in Mexico. It's a chance to extend her life beyond the given timeline.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I never thought I'd find myself asking for help, but here I am. We need to raise funds to get Mum overseas for this crucial treatment. Unfortunately, the specialized care she needs is not available in Australia, and seeking help and treatment in Mexico is an expensive journey we're forced to embark on.
</div>
