Heartbreakingly, Kristy has been given an estimated 2–5 years to live following her diagnosis with Motor Neuron Disease (MND). I had the opportunity to surprise Kristy at Chemist Warehouse, where she instantly insisted on helping me, despite everything she is going through herself. That moment said so much about the person she is. Jai Arrow also surprised Kristy by inviting her to the club for a day and matched my $1,000 donation. Kristy is still working part-time while dealing with the effects of MND. No mother, especially someone in her early 30s, should have to be told she may only have a few years left with her children. Help Krystal Access Life Extending Treatment At just 44 years old Krystal's life changed forever when she was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma, a rare, aggressive and terminal cancer with no known cure. What doctors first believed was a blood clot, and later an infection, turned out to be one of the rarest forms of cancer. In a matter of weeks, Krystal went from living a normal life to facing a diagnosis that no mother should ever have to hear. There is reason to believe her illness may have been caused by years of asbestos exposure while living in a Housing Commission home, where damaged walls unknowingly released asbestos fibres into the air. Determined to fight, Krystal recently underwent major surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Surgeons removed her right lung, the lining of her chest cavity, and the lining surrounding her heart in an effort to remove all visible cancer and give her the best possible chance. Her journey, however, is far from over. Krystal is now preparing to begin an intensive course of radiation therapy in Sydney. Although the surgery was successful in removing the visible tumor, pleural mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer, and radiation is needed to treat any remaining microscopic cancer cells. While there is currently no cure, advances in treatment continue to provide hope. Emerging therapies such as proton beam therapy, available in countries including Germany, and ongoing international research into treatments like CAR-T cell immunotherapy, may offer additional options in the future, depending on Krystal's medical team and eligibility. Unfortunately, these treatments are not readily available in Australia and can come with significant costs, including specialist consultations, overseas travel, accommodation, and treatment expenses. As a single mother of four children, all of whom have additional needs, these costs are simply beyond Krystal's means. Since becoming too unwell to work, she has been relying on the Disability Support Pension. After paying rent and essential household expenses, there is very little left to cover medical costs, regular travel to Sydney for treatment, accommodation during radiation, rehabilitation, and the everyday expenses of raising her family. This fundraiser will help ease those immediate financial pressures while also giving Krystal the opportunity to pursue additional treatment options if they become available and are recommended by her specialists. As well as giving Krystal the opportunity to create memories and travel For those who know Krystal, asking for help is completely out of character. She has spent years giving back to her community, serving on her local school's P&C for nine years, including six years as President. She established a Breakfast Club so no child would start the day hungry, organized community events and fundraisers, and helped raise more than $100,000 to support local children and families. She has always been the person helping others. Now, she needs our help. Help Silvia Get the Life-Saving Surgery She Has Fought Two Years For My name is Samuel Weidenhofer, and with the family’s permission, I am creating this fundraiser to support Silvia Signore and her family during the biggest fight of their lives. I want to be completely transparent: Silvia’s family already has an existing fundraiser that has received incredible support from their community. After two major operations and chemotherapy in Australia left her with serious heart complications, her family made the heartbreaking decision to leave everything behind and travel overseas in search of treatment that could give her another chance. Her two sons, Jake and his brother, have spent nearly a year in Germany by her side. They left Australia, stepped away from their businesses, put their lives on hold, and have dedicated every day to researching treatment options, advocating for their mum, coordinating specialist care, and fighting through every medical, logistical, and financial obstacle imaginable. Together, they have already spent well over $450,000 of their own money trying to save Silvia’s life. They’ve emptied savings, taken on significant debt, and sacrificed almost everything to get her to this point. After months of fighting, Silvia has finally been accepted by one of the world’s leading surgical teams. The team believes this major 12-hour operation has curative intent—offering the chance to remove the disease, reverse her stoma, and give her a genuine opportunity for recovery. Without this surgery, there are no remaining treatment options. The current estimate for the surgery alone is approximately €85,000, but that is only the beginning. Operations of this complexity often involve additional costs, including intensive care, specialist nursing, medications, medical equipment, rehabilitation, transport, extended hospital stays, and months of recovery while the family remains in Germany, far from home. Time is critical. After everything they have endured, they are now approaching seven weeks without treatment while waiting for surgery. The surgical team is ready, the treatment plan is in place, and this is the opportunity they have spent two years fighting to reach. Silvia has also missed so much of her four-year-old granddaughter’s life while receiving treatment overseas. Birthdays, family milestones, and the simple moments most of us take for granted have been replaced by hospitals and uncertainty. Despite everything, they haven’t given up. They are exhausted, emotionally and financially, but they still have hope. Hi, my name is Samuel Weidenhofer, and I’m fundraising to rebuild Matairuka Primary School in Papua New Guinea. When we visited Matairuka Primary School, we were deeply moved by what we saw. Despite the incredible spirit of the students and teachers, the school is in desperate need of support. Many of the classroom windows are broken, creating an unsafe and difficult learning environment. Some of the dedicated teachers are currently homeless, yet they continue to show up every day to educate and inspire their students. The children love sport, but without proper equipment they make their own balls from cardboard, plastic bags, sticky tape and whatever materials they can find. During our visit, we were able to surprise the school with new sports equipment and some immediate financial support. Seeing the joy on the students’ faces reminded us just how much of a difference even a small act of kindness can make. Now, we want to do something much bigger. Our goal is to help rebuild and improve Matairuka Primary School so these children have a safe place to learn and the teachers have the facilities they deserve. Every dollar raised through this fundraiser will go directly towards improving the school and supporting this project. As I am unable to add a Papua New Guinea bank beneficiary through my banking provider, all funds raised will first be transferred through me and then sent directly to my trusted team member on the ground in Papua New Guinea, who will oversee the distribution of funds for the school. A devastating fire in Semaphore has left this family with nothing The home belonged to their grandad, and in a matter of moments, everything they had was gone… The mum is a full-time carer for Isaac, who lives with autism and faces stage 2–3 challenges with communication and social interaction. Because of this, she isn’t able to work, and right now their situation is even more overwhelming they’ve lost not just their home, but their stability, safety, and routine. They are now homeless, trying to navigate this unimaginable situation while still giving Isaac the care, support, and consistency he needs every single day.
