Summer Rhodes

My name is Summer, and animals have always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, I always had a dog by my side, and I remember wanting to help every animal I saw in need. As I became more independent, I started taking in pets that were abandoned or could no longer be cared for by their owners. Over the years, this passion has grown into a true calling. Today, I care for 20 dogs, from playful puppies to wise seniors, and 4 goats at Kalilani Homestead & Kennels. I’ve even rehomed chickens and plan to welcome more soon! Caring for so many animals is a joy, but it’s also a big responsibility. Recently, my husband had to take time off work due to heart health issues, which has made it much harder to keep up with the costs. Feeding the animals and building safe, comfortable shelters are ongoing needs, and I want to make sure every animal has the best care possible. My dream is to keep providing a loving home for these animals and to have room for newcomers who need help. I would be grateful for any support—whether it’s a donation, sharing my story, or simply spreading the word about Kalilani Homestead & Kennels. Every bit of help makes a difference for these animals, and together, we can give them the care and love they deserve.
