<div>Hello friends!
</div>
<div>As many of you know, we are proud pup parents to the most wonderfully unique hairless Chinese Crested Dogs. We rescued them as adults in 2016—Roscoe was five, and Boogie was estimated to be around ten.
</div>
<div>They continue to bring us immense joy, and every day with them feels like a gift. We cherish every moment, especially as Boogie approaches an astonishing twenty years this year! But, as with aging, comes the challenge of veterinary bills—lots of them.
</div>
<div>As some of you know, I lost my job in early 2025 and decided to pursue a new career. This transition came with a temporary 50% pay reduction until I passed a state licensing exam. While I’m now on the other side of that hurdle, I’m still working toward financial stability after what was the most difficult year of my life.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, the costs of caring for aging pets wait for no one. Both boys have required expensive veterinary care in the past six months. Our CareCredit is maxed out, and we’re working hard to recover while facing a cost of living that has skyrocketed.
</div>
<div>Most recently, Boogie developed an abscess under his left eye due to a bad tooth that will need extraction, along with several others. He’s on antibiotics, his infection is stable, and bloodwork shows he’s otherwise healthy. Dental work is the best course for him. Meanwhile, Roscoe recently had nine teeth extracted, and we simply cannot cover another procedure so soon.
</div>
<div>At this point, I’m humbly asking for help. Our dogs are our world, and we want to continue giving them the best care possible. I do not take the generosity of family and friends lightly, and as a fiercely independent person, it’s not easy for me to ask. I’m asking for the high end of Boogie’s estimate, but any extra funds will go toward their CareCredit account to help with future expenses as they continue to age.
</div>
<div>I know times are hard for everyone, and I am deeply grateful for any support—whether it’s a donation, sharing this message, or simply offering words of encouragement. We are thankful to have such amazing people in our lives and hope one day to pay forward the kindness we’ve received.

Caring for Our Beloved Hairless Chinese Crested Dogs

<div>I don't really know how to start this. I'm going to do my best to make this make sense and give you as much information as I can... I am in a pickle right now. I'm struggling so bad, my bills are past due, my account is empty, I'm incredibly ashamed of myself for struggling so hard right now and that I'm having to do this, but I don't know what else to do at this moment... so here goes nothing...
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hi everyone, my name is Jen (Jenifer Reynolds). I was in a car accident in July of 2024 while on my way to work. It's a busy road in town that is 7 lanes wide, 3 on each side with the middle being a median with occasional gaps with turn lanes. I was in the far-right lane, my lane was clear all the way to the next red light which was my turn. The middle lane and far left lane were backed up and stopped all the way to that redlight. An suv decided to take a chance and turn and make a left hand turn to get into the shopping center which was on my right. He couldn't see me and I couldn't see him until he was right Infront of me. I slammed on brakes and braced myself, I couldn't stop and t-boned him almost at full speed (speed limit was 45mph). My right leg was stuck under the dash with my foot still on the brake pedal, both my knees slammed into the dash, my hips hurt, my lower spine hurt, my neck hurt, I had deep bruising from my seat belt, and my wrists, elbows, and shoulders were sore for some time after from bracing before the impact (which in hindsight wasn't smart). I had to have the firefighters help get me out of the car and into the ambulance. Unfortunately, it took 45 minutes after the accident for emergency services to get there. I took some time off from work but went back to work because obviously I needed the money, but I also didn't want to let down my team, and work was my second home and extended family. I had good pain days and bad pain days, I pushed through and did more physical things than I should have jusy trying to get through work. I couldn't walk without pain (still can't), and I had to wear a knee brace every day to help with stability and pressure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Fast forward to April of 2025, and I lost my job after 18 years working in retail. It was my first and only job in my life, and it was my constant. I'm going to be real and say that this absolutely destroyed me and I'm still mentally recovering. After abusive relationships taking up almost 16 years of my life, my job was the only constant safe thing in my life. I lost myself over those years, I changed myself for the people I was with, turned into someone I never thought I would become, I was unhealthy, I became a heavy alcoholic for many years. I got out, I got away, and I got sober (8 years sober and counting). My job was my crutch that I leaned on to get through everything in my adult life. I gave them 18 years of blind dedication, normally putting my job first before myself. I know I shouldn't say my job was my life, but... it was.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since then, I haven't been able to get a job. The job market is so tough right now for even small simple cashier jobs. If you know anyone recently who has been struggling with that, you know how bad it is. The other unfortunate fact here was that my boyfriend lost his job the month before me. I have been in a struggling battle with unemployment. We survived off his unemployment and what little was in my 401K, which is now gone. My boyfriend luckily landed a job at a gas station in February 2026, it doesn't pay much, but its something. I'm still struggling to get around every day. I have spent the last year getting treated for my main injuries from the accident (both knees and lower spine). My knees have meniscus, muscle, and cartilage damage. My lower spine is compressed from L2-L5 with bulging disks and a genetic disease that I didn't know I had. I have Baastrup's Syndrome/ Baastrup's Disease (also kissing spine syndrome) which I guess is a degenerative disease that causes the lower disks to degrade so the vertebrae end up rubbing together and getting stuck on one another. My spinal disorder made my spine weaker which allowed for it to be more susceptible to be damaged from the wreck.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My medical treatment process slowed down when I was still working because it was hard finding appointment times that worked around my work schedule originally. After losing my job, it slowed down more because I discovered I'm allergic to a few medications, so I had to get allergy tests done to see what I could safely use for knee, hip, and spinal injections. I needed two different medication challenge appointments which took months to get into and have done. I had knee surgery on my right knee in December of 2025, and I have more range of motion now, but my knee/leg is still very weak because it was injured for so long before I could get the surgery done. I'm still in physical therapy and keep pushing that daily. I am finally scheduled for my left knee surgery Wednesday, May 27, 2026. I am awaiting my spinal surgery consultation appointment next month at the end of June 2026. I was originally supposed to have my spinal surgery consultation a few months ago but was postponed due to my surgeon performing an emergency surgery the morning of my appointment. I have reapplied for unemployment (not sure if I can even get on it), I'm on Medicare, I temporarily have SNAP benefits, and I'm applying for rental assistance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I'm still applying for jobs and not hearing anything. I am trying to find something I can do that isn't going to make things worse for my body. It is impossible to predict how much pain I'll be in from a day-to-day basis and what I might be able to do or not do. I can't stand for too long, I can't sit for too long, laying down helps but then it hurts, and if I move the wrong way or stay in the wrong position, it hurts and can make it worse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have always struggled with my mental health since I was a kid. I've struggled with self-harm addiction, suicidal ideations, and eating disorders for most of my life. I smoked cigarettes and drank on and off from high school on, but after a time within my past abusive relationships, they too became a constant in my life too. I've attempted to take my own life many times in my life from a young age until the last time in 2016. I'm not going to sit here and say I was in perfect mental health before the car accident, absolutely not. Life with mental health is something that is always there, its not always a constant battle, but its there.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I'm bringing all of this up to be clear and open on who I am and what I've been dealing with. This is the first time in my life I have not been financially independent; I have spent over a year now unemployed. I have not been able to walk properly since the accident, my knees, hips, and lower spine are still very dysfunctional. I haven't had the mobility or strength that I used to have since the accident. I've been in constant pain since the accident. I have been trying to find anything I can. I'm stuck in a hard place because now my right knee is getting stronger, I'm having the left knee worked on and I'm going to be off my feet again... and then whenever I'm cleared from that I will probably have something done on my back to help my spine. I feel so lost and alone and scared I'm never going to be "normal" again. It feels impossible to find a job and work to gain financial security around my surgeries, treatments, recovery, etc. I need help getting back only feet, I know finances are tight for so many people right now. I'm ashamed of myself right now and I don't know how I'm going to get through this.

Support Needed for Housing and Living Expenses

<div>She's a cherished mother, a beloved aunt, a rockstar grandma, loving wife, and a great friend to many. Everyone connected to Kim Phillips knows she's the rock of the community and family, spending a lifetime worrying about the needs of others. Now it's our turn to worry about her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Some months ago Kim was diagnosed with a painful and aggressive cancer that has been wreaking havoc on her body ever since. After just 1 week home in recovery from a near record-breaking day long Whipple surgery, Kim's body began to rapidly deteriorate due to a massive infection and blockage (a dangerous complication from surgery).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kim's family is pulling together to help as much as we can but piling medical bills and a mountain of home care needs are getting beyond the scope of our resources. Can you help us care for this warrior of a woman and bring her home? Whether it's $5 or $500, every single dollar will help us out a lot and will be enormously appreciated.

Help save Kim from cancer

<div>Several of us have had that one friend that always has that smile, that laugh and the energy that gets us through whatever it is that we are going through. For me that friend is Tina.
</div>
<div>I met Tina years ago when I was invited to brunch by a mutual friend. This brunch was hosted and made complete by Tina's constant sense of pride in bringing friends together if only for any hour to laugh, drink and enjoy each other's company. Every Saturday until this past Saturday, January the 8th when the fun took a deep pause. It was then that Tina had a stroke that led to a hospitalization. Since then she has been released and is undergoing the trials and tribulations of navigating the world of insurance and doctors visits, new prescription medications and physical therapy. All things that are very new to her and quite intimidating.
</div>
<div>For those of you that know Tina, as many do, she works in the hospitality industry and at the time of this unfortunate event she did not have health insurance. Luckily she was set up with insurance prior to her discharge however this does not cover the bills and time that Tina lost from her many supportive friends that she didn't dare let go thirsty while she was at Leons.
</div>
<div>Please join me in assisting Tina in this time of need so that we can get her back where she belongs and admire that tenacious, spirited personality once again. Any and all support is greatly appreciated.
</div>

Help me show Tina some love

As it is, her 8 year old little girl will never have her mother's hugs again.  Denver will never be able to call her  mom and ask for advice, or have her mom cry at her wedding.  <br /><br />We as her family are left with a big hole in our lives. I hope everyone reading this hugs their loved ones and tells them that you love them one extra time today.<br /><br /><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">Kelly left this world without any insurance to help with the costs of her passing. I assume that she thought that she had all the time in the world left to live. </span><br /><br />Please help in any way that you can. Every little bit helps and I would like to thank you on behalf of our family.

<p>On Saturday, April 14, one of our own, Zach Link, was the victim of a vicious and brutal hate crime, not far from Praxis's former gym, near the corner of 10th and U Streets NW. When his would-be attackers lashed out against one of his friends, Zach stood up to defend him, and instead was physically assaulted by thugs, throwing him on the ground, and kicking him in the face.  Zach suffered multiple injuries to his face, including broken teeth, a broken nose, and several cuts and bruises. He was rushed to the hospital following the attack and has been receiving care through the remainder of the weekend. <br /><br />More information on the attack may be found below (via Washington Post):<br /><br /><a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/two-men-attacked-by-assailants-who-yelled-homophobic-slurs-dc-police-say/2018/04/15/b738e264-40da-11e8-8569-26fda6b404c7_story.html?utm_term=.e214e1bfb3e1">Two men attacked by assailants who yelled anti-gay slurs, D.C. police say</a> <br /><br />This attack is a stark reminder that homophobia and anti-gay violence still persists, even in a city as tolerant and welcoming as Washington, DC. Although our physical gym no longer exists, the Praxis Community remains strong and continues to look after our own. Through this effort, we hope to be able to support Zach through this difficult time, show our strength as a family, and take a stand against homophobia and hate-fueled violence.<br /><br />At this point, we are working with Zach to estimate the total cost of his medical expenses, but for now, we encourage the Praxis Community and its friends to please give what you can to help Zach make a full and speedy recovery and cover all medical costs not covered by his insurance. Additionally, we encourage all of you to please contact the Metropolitan Police Department at [phone redacted] or text TIPS to 50411 if you have any information that can help lead to the arrest of the suspects.<br /><br />Keep Zach in your hearts this week. On behalf of the Praxis Community, we wish Zach a full and speedy recovery, and we will always be there to stand strong by your side.

This is Ashawnty Davis.  Just three weeks ago, she was full of life.  Unfortunately, she is  no longer with us. She is a victim of bullycide. She took her own life by hanging in her closet.  No one had a clue she was dreading going to school the next day. Ashwanty had her first and last fight at Sunrise Elememtary school where she was taunted, and bullied. No one was around to ensure that the children on the playground were safe. The fight was recorded, and then added to social media (the site musicly) which added to insult. This ten year old could not handle. Ashawnty has 6 other brother and sisters, and a mother and father who miss her daily. This family will need assitance for the services. Please do what you can to help this family. Pray and talk with your children. Ashawnty was a child who did not care for violence, in her memory stop the bullying today! God bless you all!

ASHAWNTY'S WAY OUT NO BULLYING!

My mother, Cheryl Lafrance, was diagnosed a week ago with adenocarcinoma lung cancer with metastasis to the brain and bone. She has spent the last week at Eastern Maine Medical Center. The first surgery was to remove a metastatic tumor in her brain which was impacting her speech and thought process. Her second surgery was to place a rod in her femur to strengthen where the cancer was on the bone. She will spend the next couple weeks at a rehab facility to help her with her leg. From there she will stay and continue her radiation. In three or so weeks she will be coming home and traveling back and fourth to Brewer once every three weeks for chemotherapy. Although she has not expressed a financial need I'm trying to help take stress away anyway I'm able. I do know she was not anticipating the loss of income from being out of work for a month or better. I'm sure it would be of great assistance to help cover any additional medical copays, bills while she's out of work, the many trips to Bangor we will have to make, a wig for the effects of chemo, etc. Thank you for helping me help my mother. She is an amazing woman who has and would go out of her way to help others. <br /><img class="not-resizeable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/6960681_1447643099.1792_funddescription.jpg" alt="6960681_1447643099.1792_funddescription." width="100%" />

<p>The world lost a beloved Elder and teacher yesterday; Eddy Gutierrez, an incredibly well known and respected Santero, Conjure man, and educator, passed into his next journey in a massive cardiac event. While we know that Eddy himself is not suffering, he leaves behind his beloved mother, sister, and partner. <br><br>Eddy did so much for so many communities; Lukumi, hoodoo/conjure, the Minoan Brotherhood, the Unnamed Path, and served as a pillar of knowledge and strength.<br><br><br>It now falls to our communities to aid Eddy's family in their time of need; final costs and rituals are an expense nobody is ever truly prepared for, and Eddy's family needs our support. Please give what you can; all proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to Eddy's mom and partner to help them in this time.</p>
