<div>We wanted to give you an update on Mum and also set up a way for those who have asked to help. She has been going through a really complicated and rare health situation over the past few months. This is her third hospital admission in two months, and things have been changing rapidly. Her condition is unusual and complex, which has made diagnosis and treatment especially challenging.

<div>Mum has been dealing with worsening ear and facial pain, hearing loss, and now a droop on the left side of her face, which is now moving to the right side. She was originally diagnosed with a rare condition called fibrosing inflammatory pseudotumor, which affects the nasopharynx and skull base. More recently, imaging has shown enlarging fluid collections and swelling in the area. She has been on steroids and had a rituximab infusion, but her symptoms have continued to progress. Tomorrow, she has a biopsy scheduled to get more answers.

<div>Mum has recently been started on three antibiotics, but infectious disease doctors have now asked to stop them in preparation for the biopsy. They explained that it is more helpful to pause the antibiotics right now because it will give the biopsy the best chance to show what is really going on, especially since her symptoms have continued to worsen despite the steroids and rituximab infusion. The team is also taking into account other possible factors, like the fact that Mum lives on a farm with chickens, cats, and dogs, and they are running tests for less common infections that can come from animals.

<div>This situation has been incredibly stressful and unpredictable. While Mum focuses on her health, her medical bills and everyday expenses are adding up. Mum has had to be out of work while hospitalized and recovering. She has spent her life caring for others as a hospice home health aide and misses her patients deeply. We are asking for help to cover costs while she is hospitalized, including treatments, medications, and other necessary care. Any support, big or small, would mean so much to our family and help us make sure Mum can focus fully on getting better.

<div>On Monday, January 6th, Lieutenant Dana Wessling was driving home after picking up his 7 year-old son, Beckett from daycare. Dana had just completed his shift with the Monmouth Police Department, where he has led a decorated law enforcement career over the past fifteen years.

<div>Less than a mile from his home, Dana and Beckett were struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle, in a devastating crash that rocked the town of Turner. By the grace of God, Beckett escaped with minor injuries. Dana survived, but endured the full impact of the crash, which left him with an extensive list of injuries including broken ribs, cracked sternum, bruised lungs, shattered leg/ankle, and much, much more. Dana is currently in the hospital and in critical condition.

<div>If Dana is ever able to make a full recovery, it will be a miracle. In the meantime, his family will suffer the loss of income, mounting medical bills from recurring surgeries and follow-up visits, and an adult household figure who will need a lot of help with basic needs, as his mobility will be very minimal in the coming weeks and months.

<div>As many of you know, Mike was in a horrific snowmobile accident back in December 2009. This left Michael paralyzed and quadriplegic. Through the years he has overcome many hurdles from surgeries to learning to live in his new normal. In 2012 he was back in his happy place, behind the wheel of a truck, something he didn’t know if he’d ever do again. He did this with the help of a turning adaptive truck seat that allows him to enter and exit his wheelchair along with hand controls to accelerate and break the vehicle.

<div>On August 29th, 2024, Mike was in a car accident. As Mikes family, we are extremely grateful he wasn’t hurt badly (again). Unlike his truck, which suffered some serious damage. Michael’s truck is totaled and his insurance company will not cover the cost of his handicapped adaptive seat, or his hand controls. This seat is beyond expensive and on limited income for a disabled person, almost impossible to obtain.

<div>With that being said, we as a family, are asking for any help possible to help Mike get back on the road. This is his only means of transportation- allowing him to get back to work and get back to visiting family, friends and get him ready to (hopefully) back in the woods this year for hunting. The independence of being mobile is so important to Mikes well-being and quality of life.

Honoring Ralph Taylor: Providing Comfort & Support

<div>Many people know my Dad, Jim Small, throughout the community whether it is from one of his businesses, family, or friends. On Dec. 28th, 2022 he was admitted to Midcoast Hospital for abdominal pain that after many tests determined to be from his appendix. Surgery was scheduled for the 29th in the afternoon. During surgery, it was discovered that his appendix had burst and had caused other damage and infection that resulted in part of his intestines and colon being removed along with his appendix. Following the surgery, he remained at Midcoast until Jan. 5th. He was happy to be released but unfortunately, he is on a lot of restrictions, in constant pain still over 2 weeks later, and is unable to work for the time being. Anyone who knows my Dad knows that this is extremely hard for him to not be able to work. Without being able to work it means that the income is all on my Mom right now. I am hoping that some funds can be raised to help offset the financial income that my parents are missing due to his inability to return to work in the near future.

Medical and lost work

<div>As some of you may know, our dad Jack Giagrando recently was diagnosed with throat cancer. He was being treated for what we thought was a tooth infection, but he was losing more weight and wasn't able to eat much as time went on. Finally, Rachel and I all but forced him to go to the hospital. After lots of blood work and a CT scan, they discovered a large mass in his throat.

<div>Later, he was transferred to Brigham and Women's in Boston for further treatment. Since being at the Brigham, he has had things from all directions thrown at him. He is now recovering from getting a feeding tube placed and a tracheostomy because of needing to protect his airway. The current plan is to approach this head-on with Chemotherapy and Radiation.

<div>Dad is a long-term employee at Cleanharbors, where he has worked since 1983. He, for the foreseeable future won't be able to work because of treatment. He will have many medical bills on top of having to still keep up with his everyday bills. We know things are tight for everyone in this economy but every little bit helps! We know dad will fight this and he's keeping a positive attitude. We will keep everyone updated as much as we can and we thank everyone for their love and support.

<p>My niece Megan had a baby girl name Adalyn, 13 weeks early. Adalyn Jane is now almost 15 months old. She was born with Cerebal Palsy, the severity of this is being quadriplegic and she has a chronic lung disease. 
</p>
<p>On 6-20-21 she was rushed to CMMC because she turned grayish-blue and was unresponsive.  She had a calasped lung and went into cardiac arrest while at CMMC. The drs did wonders by doing CPR that lasted roughly 20mins to keep her alive. The drs wanted to lifeflight her to MaineMed, but they new it would have been too dangerous and risky. 
</p>
<p> She was transported to MaineMed by ambulance. They had to put her on life support to help her breathe. After 5 days and several meetings, everyone decided to take her off life support,  not knowing what the outcome would be, at that time, she could have died but Addy chose to fight.
</p>
<p>Adalyin is a fighter for sure, she had beaten those odds of survival.  Fast forward to yesterday….
</p>
<p>My niece Megan who has been strong and has done a fantastic job with her baby, has been given the news that NO PARENT would ever want to hear. I know that this is in the hands of the Lord at this point No doctor can tell you when your time is up, but the doctors are saying she will more then likely not live past 2 -2 and half years old.
</p>
<p>Megan would love to take her baby to Disney but knows flying would be extremely risky.
</p>
<p>  Also, when the time comes and have to pay for other expenses that she don’t have to worry about.

Matty’s funeral costs

Hayden, my 6 year old nephew, suffered a critical traumatic brain injury as the result of a horrific Christmas Day tragedy.  Hayden will require extensive medical treatments, lengthy hospital stays along with ongoing physical therapy which will also result in missed work for his parents, Aaron and Jess.  All proceeds will go to out of work expenses for Aaron and Jess, helping pay medical and recovery expenses, therapy and rehabilitation costs, and for Hayden's future needs.  <br /><br />Hayden is at the Barbara Bush Hospital in Portland and is receiving the best care possible.  He has made a lot of positive progress, but he has a long road to recovery ahead of him. <br /><br />The family recognizes that this is a very difficult time for many people, if you are unable to donate prayers are welcome.  We are also accepting cards for Hayden, which can be mailed to Hayden Merrill, 107 John Small Road, Bowdoin, Maine 04287.<br /><br />Thank you all for your love and support - The Merrill and Stinson Families.

Please donate and share.<br />Update 11/02/2020:  I spoke to Meghan, Jesse's wife this morning.  Jesse is still in ICU and is still on the ventilator.  They are still treating him for his extensive internal injuries, but there is every reason to be optimistic for his recovery.  Meghan is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support they have received so far.  If you've donated already, THANK YOU!!  Please continue to share this post.  If you haven't donated, please consider helping this family and donating to help them through this terrible situation.<br />Jesse Cassidy is a Local 4 crane operator who has been married to his wife Meghan for two years.  Jesse and Meghan are expecting their first child, a daughter, on December 23rd.  Jesse is a good union man who comes from a good union family.  Jesse's father, Kenny Cassidy, has been a union ironworker with Local 7 for 20 years.<br />On the weekend of October 17th, Jesse suffered a devastating motorcycle accident.  He sustained 15 broken ribs, organ damage, punctured lungs and a fractured skull.  He is currently in intensive care at Maine Medical Center on a ventilator.  Although he is expected to make a full recovery, the family has a long road ahead of them.<br />This GoFundMe was started to raise money for this young family to try to take some of the financial stress out of their lives as they try to navigate the long recovery process ahead.  Jesse is not expected to be able to return to work for a year or more, and with the delivery of their baby so close, Meghan is also out of work.  It is up to all of us to see that Jesse and Meghan don't have to add financial devastation to the issues that they are already facing.<br />The men and women of the trades have always taken care of their own.  With the holiday season coming up, please be generous and help this young family.

Cady is a sweet and smart 6 year old girl. She was born with a very rare genetic disorder called KCNQ2 that causes severe eposodic rigidity and dystonia when she spikes a fever or when viral or bacterial infections trigger her immune system to respond. The onset of these episodes varies in severity, from mild dystonia to full on stiffness and muscle excitability -- she is fully consicous and experiences severe unimagenable pain through her episodes. Please Help Crohn’s Patient Joshua Easterling Joshua, affectionately known as “Muffin” suffers from a severe form of Crohn’s Disease.  Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterized by inflammation of the digestive or gastrointestinal (GI) tract.  In fact, Crohn’s can affect any part of the GI tract, from the mouth to the anus, but is more commonly found at the end of the small intestine where it joins the large intestine.  It can also affect: eyes, skin and joints. Joshua was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2012 after more than 6 months of testing and rapid unexplained weight loss.  In late 2012 Joshua has gone from 176 to 105 pounds and was hospitalized for more than 9 weeks from complications from the disease.  During that time he nearly died several times and had 4 surgeries.  He has since had several more surgeries and suffers daily from chronic pain and diarrhea caused by the disease as well as having frequent infections due to his Crohn’s. Despite all of this Joshua has managed to finish his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine and is currently working toward his C.P.A.  He hopes to one day run his own accounting and bookkeeping business. Due to Joshua’s illness and the often embarrassing nature of the disease Joshua is currently unable to work.  He receives a small disability payment each month that barely covers his rent and basic expenses, often needing assistance to buy food.  Though Joshua has a very supportive family that helps him with his expenses when they can, it is often difficult to keep up with his bills and he is currently behind on many of them. We are asking for contributions to help Joshua with his basic expenses.  Currently his rent is behind due to his disability payment not being enough to cover rent, a phone, food and gas.  We would like to help Josh get ahead so he can concentrate on healing.  Currently Joshua is hospitalized due to complications from his illness and has just had another surgery.  No one is sure how long he will be hospitalized for.  In addition, his medical coverage does not include prescriptions and his prescriptions can be very costly, sometimes several hundred dollars per month after a hospitalization. No donation is too small and all are greatly appreciated by Joshua and his family who love him dearly and hope this will help relieve some of his stress and help him to heal when he returns home.

Hello. I am sharing this story in hopes to help an amazing family. <br /><br />Last year, my uncle John was hosptialitalized because of a bleed in his brain. After a lot of hard work he was able to come home. For the most part, he was able to live his life as he did before with few limitations.<br /><br />Sadly, two weeks ago, he suffered from another bleed in the same spot. This one being larger and causing more damage. He was making small strides, but as of yesterday, he developed an infection and had to have a drain inserted. Through continued prayers and the love of our family, we know he will soon be on the road to recovery. However, it is going to be a long road.<br /><br />We are asking for help, not only for medical bills, but for the care of their two teenage boys, who remain at home. Their eldest child has special needs and requires specific care. Our family has been splitting shifts to stay and take care of both boys; cooking, cleaning up the house and just trying to make things has comfortable has possible for them, as their amazing mother has remained by their fathers side.<br /><br />They are truly and incredible family and we would love to help relieve some of costs they will endure during this journey.<br /><br />We thank you in advance and have every intension of paying in foward.
