Turn on the Lights for Bill Jones

Donation protected
In the summer of 2016, I interviewed Arkansas resident Bill Jones for a series about the South for my YouTube channel. A self-proclaimed "redneck", the plain-spoken man opened up about what he does for work, what he does for fun, his thoughts on America today, and how he gets by without many of the luxuries we take for granted.

Today, over a million people have watched this interview and many have commented with sympathy for Bill's lack of electricity or transportation. (He walks eight miles into town if he can't get a ride and has to keep frozen foods in an ice chest.) Several viewers have even expressed interest in donating to Bill if there was a way to do so.

I'm starting this campaign to give these big-hearted viewers this chance to help out a humble, down-to-earth guy. The money donated will all go straight to Bill to help him get his lights back on--something he hopes for in the video--and to just help lighten his (and his lady's and their pets') burden this holiday season.

Once collected, I will either send or deliver the proceeds personally to Bill with the help of his son, Lance, who I've been in contact with. My hope, if we raise an adequate amount, is to deliver the money myself and video-record his reaction (And/or I may do a follow-up interview later on after he's invested the money to better his situation.)

In any case, this is that chance many of you have commented about. So I hope you can toss in a few dollars to give Bill a break this holiday season.
