It’s been a fantastic ride so far and the journey is just beginning. If you’ve been following Tony Gudell you’ve seen how quickly he is becoming a favorite in the Washington, D.C. jazz community. From appearing monthly at the luxurious Acadiana Restaurant, to appearing weekly at the iconic jazz club, Columbia Station, Tony has had the privilege of sharing his passion for The Great American Songbook and for the musicians who help keep it alive. Please, contribute anything you can and help keep the music playing and musicians working for years to come.

Hello, Angels! Well, the taping of my video demo has been completed. Now the four hours of footage will be edited down to ten, five, and two minute segments. As I eagerly await the final product I have the privilege to introduce you to a terrific new album of 11 original contemporary jazz compositions. My friend and music director, Oren Levine, has written both words and music, and has produced a fantastic album featuring the finest musicians in the DC area. I have the honor of singing the title track on Making Up For Lost Time and I think you would enjoy it immensely. Sample the album and get your copy by following this link:

Well, the recording is completed! We had a fun, creative, and productive shoot. We did go over budget but we accomplished everything I had planned. We recorded fourteen tunes in four hours, with fantastic musicians and a crackerjack production team. Thank you so much for your generous donations and support. I could not have done this without you. I’ll be sure to let you know when the editing is completed. I look forward to sharing this with you. Thanks again!

Today is the big day - I am heading to Blue House Productions with five amazing musicians and a fantastic production staff to spend the day recording some of my favorites from the American Songbook. This video demo will help keep the music playing and DC musicians working for years to come. I’m delighted to say we have reached our GoFundMe goal, however, we are already over budget. If you can, please share this campaign with your friends and family and ask if they would consider chipping in a few dollars to help us meet production costs. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. Wish us luck! We can’t wait to share our demo with you! Happy Halloween!

It’s production week! This Wednesday we hit the studio and - because of your generosity -record this long-awaited video demo. I was preparing to do this project over the summer but one important musician wasn’t available, and I simply wouldn’t even think about going into the studio without my friend and accompanist, Mr. Oren Levine.

The very first time I sang a jazz gig here in DC it was Oren who was at the piano. He has since become a close friend, and my most trusted musical-confidante.

Oren is an accomplished jazz pianist and composer from Washington, DC. He performs frequently in the DC area, leading his own groups and performing regularly with DC vocalists Aaron Myers, Barbara Papendorp, and monthly with yours truly, at Acadiana Restaurant’s Sunday Jazz Brunch. He is a long-standing member of the house band at the weekly DC Jazz Jam, and has performed with some of the most notable DC area vocalists and instrumentalist.

Oren’s upcoming album, "Making Up For Lost Time," will be released next week, on November 7. I am proud to say I have the honor of singing the title track on this outstanding recording of Oren’s original songs.

This important project may not have gotten off the ground at all without your generous contributions, and I certainly wouldn’t even attempt it without Oren Levine at the eighty-eights.
