Nikolai, a small community on at the Top of the Kuskokwim has 14 school aged children, 16 if you count the babies.
I work here as the Tribal Family Youth Specialist at the Village Council . My job allows me to work alongside children and their families. I would like to do some traditional sewing and crafts with the kids. My first goal would be to have all the children make Kuspuks, then beaver fur hats.
I set the goal in the hopes we can hire someone to show us how to sew a kuspuk, we need funds to cover intructors and some supplies (some here) and the Beaver hats would roughly be 400-500 per person to make (fur, hide and instruction) plus the cost for items to be shipped to use.
