Not too long ago, my boyfriend Lukas and I were driving down a busy road in Baltimore. As we approached a stop light, we saw a homeless man pacing the median holding up a sign that said, "HOMELESS PLEASE HELP." Lukas gave him some cash, introduced himself, and began talking to him. As we continued our conversation with the man we came to know as Jay, Lukas' rosary in his car began to move. Lukas took the rosary from his rearview mirror, and gave it to Jay; Jay began to cry. It was in this exact moment that Luke and I both realized that sometimes people need way more than money, they need things only love can provide.
"Got Your Back" was born hours later.
Got Your Back's main mission is to give the homeless of Baltimore what they need and deserve. Lukas and I are going to be putting together backpacks for the homeless filled with both necessities and trinkets that let them know they're loved-- packs that give back! We are currently accpeting donations!
