The Dope Spot is a community-focused Recording, Rehearsal and Events studio that has been, and continues to be, a resource to those looking to pursue an interest, and possibly a career, in art and music since it opened its doors in 2013. The Dope Spot provides the community with services including audio and music recording, podcast recording, multimedia services such as photography, video, graphic design and web design, apparel merchandise screen printing, artist development workshops, music producer workshops, instrument lessons, singing lessons, a space for artists and bands to rehearse and a space for small events such as showcases, album release shows, open mics, meetings, etc. Since the creation of The Dope Spot, relationships and business partnerships have been formed between the studio and various entities in Pomona, CA including The dA Center for the Arts, The Glass House, Acerogami, Relevé Apparel, Wanderwall Space, IE Photo Rentals, The Kreative Spot and 3-Bit Games. Through these partnerships The Dope Spot has been able to curate various events open to the community on a monthly basis and has also played a role in connecting the community with other resources it may not be equipped to fulfill by itself alone.
At this stage of development, The Dope Spot is asking for your help.
When The Dope Spot was created, the majority of the equipment, which has been used in order to provide all of the services previously mentioned, was obtained due to a musician who invested his own money to get things started. He is currently going off to grad school and has expressed that he will need all of the equipment he helped purchase upon his departure, which means that The Dope Spot will be forced to close its doors and cease to continue its operations at the end of July.
However, we believe that with your help, we can replace the equipment needed to ensure The Dope Spot’s longevity and allow the studio to run at its full potential moving forward into the Summer of 2017.
The equipment that we need to replace will cost a total of $3,000. With this amount, we can replace all of the equipment we are losing.
