Storm Destroyed Our Watermelon Crop

Hello,
Our names are Tieran and Amy and we live in a small town in Queensland with our two beautiful children. My husband and I are watermelon farmers and unfortunately our crop that was ready to harvest this week was destroyed by a hail storm on February 28th earlier this year. Sometimes Mother Nature steps in and gives you a kick in the guts to remind you who's the boss.
So instead of picking our melons and sending them to market, we salvage what we could and sold a few on the side of road as they are not even classed as seconds at the market.
We have lost hundreds and thousands of dollars and are still trying to pay back where we can and survive each week. Each season we hope to profit enough to survive for another year and also have enough to grow another crop. However this year we have struggled so much that we have only been able to plan a couple of acres. We are hoping this will be enough to pay back everything and start fresh again next year.
This hasn't stopped us from wanting to do what we love. We love the land and love providing food for our country. My husband and I have gotten off farm jobs which we are so fortunate to have gotten and it is just keeping us going at the moment but we need need support. We want to grow the Peoples' Melons but to continue to grow our watermelon crops we need to raise the funds to keep a float. We have the land, the resources and the experience. All we need is support from the community, the state and the country.
