The Davis 224

Tax deductible
Join me on a 224 Mile journey to raise money on behalf of fallen Officer Natalie Corona, Officer Badge #224.  To commemorate and honor this day in rememberance Natalie and her dedication to protect and serve our community, I am running 224 Miles in 72 hours through and around Davis, California from February 22 through February 25th to raise money for the Natalie Corona Scholarship Fund.

All money donated to this Go Fund ME campaign will go directly to the Odd Fellow Helping Hands Charity Organization, who are establishing the Natalie Corona Scholarship Fund on behalf of Officer Natalie Corona, and they are hosting a community gathering on February 24th to commemorate Officer Corona's Badge #224, and to raise money for the fund.

I've spent the last 10 years going to school, and working in Davis, California. I was in Davis during the events on January 10th that took from her family, her Police Department, and our Community. It was a terrible and senseless tragedy, I have close friends the police service and this event shook me and moved me to do take action.

So I wanted to help somehow, and this is the best I could come up with: Run 224 miles in honor of Natalie's Police Badge Number, with the goal to raise money for a charity in her name, and to keep her memory alive by commemorating the day 2/24 in her honor.

Any donation will help make an impact. Thank you for your contribution to this cause,  and please come join in on a few miles!

The Race

The race will consist of 14 clockwise loops around an ~15.8 mile course, beginning and ending at Get Fit Davis Sport, passing the Davis Police Station on each lap during Mile 2. The race will begin on Friday, Feb. 22 at 6:00 AM, and I will attempt to cover all 224 miles, running day and night, within a 72 hour time limit, ending at 6:00 AM on Monday, Feb. 25.

I will need to maintain an average speed of ~19 min/mile to complete the distance under the time limit. Slow and steady wins the race.

Live tracking and GPS information will be available closer to the event.

I am always looking for both biking and running pacers, if you are available and would like to assist in pacing me for some of the race, please email me at [email redacted]

T-Shirts
If you would like to help fund the race and to show support for the cause and check out t-shirts at bonfire.com/davis-224-shirt  . Profits from shirt sales will help finance race supplies and gear necessary for me to complete all 224 miles in one piece.

About Me
My name is Colin Schmitt and I came to Davis to attend UC Davis in 2009. In 2014 I graduated from UC Davis with BS in Exercise Biology and won the university's first National Collegiate Boxing Championship Title. After ending my amateur boxing career I looked for another activity while staying casually active in boxing and strength training, and then found a new passion in Ultramarathons. I ran my first 50 mile run in July, 2018 in Leadville, CO, DNF'd my first 100 attempt in August, 2018, then completed a home brewed 100 miler by running 194 laps around a 0.52 mile loop in 23 hours and 22 minutes. For training, I do 100% of my running with my two dogs, Smoke and Hannibal. My favorite food combo is burgers and beer.

When I'm not running my dogs, I own and teach at the Davis Boxing Academy at Get Fit Davis Sport on 1809 Picasso Ave, where I also do one-on-one Boxing and Personal Training.
