That's What She Said™ (TWSS™) is turning 1!! Just one year ago a few of us got together to experiment in creating space for women to share their unique journey with each other. See more about us in SF Chronicle or ABC News .
We believed that the potential for impact on our community was awesome, even though we'd never seen anyone try anything like it before. We also knew we didn't want to "recreate the wheel," and become an advocacy group -- because we live in the Bay Area and the organizations doing real work are right here. We wanted to raise funds and awareness for amazing work already being done, and give the speaker each month freedom to highlight the causes closest to her heart.
TWSS™ has always been free as we want to make sure all women have access to this special community.
As we have our first birthday we are turning to our community to ask for some support -- there are a few things we need to help us grow. Eventually we'd love to bring this idea to other cities, and have a real way that women can share their stories that is safe and consistent and joyful.
Our birthday list has two big items right now:
1) A stage! We have been renting a stage every month to make sure the speaker can be seen and heard. This costs us $200/month & a lot of resources to make sure someone can receive the delivery. We're growing up, and we need our own for the long haul!
2) $$ to film a short documentary. In order to take this idea to the next level, a short documentary could tell our story in a really powerful way. This can cost $1500-2000; and we'd love some help to get started on this!!
Thank you for supporting us through this project and experiment -- we are committed to elevating the stories of the amazing women in our community and beyond for as long as we can. We're just getting started!!!
