Tasmanian Tiger Expeditions

Hi there! I'm Chris Rehberg from Where Light Meets Dark.

In 2013 I heard an animal calling in the Tasmanian wilderness that matched descriptions of the Tasmanian tiger (thylacine). The call came from across a valley.

In 2017 I went to the other side of the valley and had an amazing wildlife encounter with an animal calling all around my camp. I managed to record audio and that's being analysed as I write.

Three people with over 100 years' collective experience in the Tasmanian wilderness have said it's not a call they've heard before!

I have been researching the Tasmanian tiger since Klaus Emmerichs claimed to have taken two photos of one in Tasmania in 2005. Since then I have been to Tasmania countless times and deployed scores of wildlife camera traps.

Right now I am asking for funding help. I have contributed dozens of airfares, scores of camera traps, fuel, food, time and expertise. The US. TV show Monster Quest contributed camping equipment during filming of their episode in 2009 and many people have supported me personally, including those who have come on expeditions with me - Michael Nelson (see MQ trips, 2008-9) and Rob Bagshaw (2017).

I can see from other Go Fund Me pages and news articles that financial contributions in the thousands have been made on the basis of mainland Tasmanian tiger evidence! Don't get me wrong - there are *some* sighting claims warranting further mainland investigation, but we *know* the thylacine was extant to 1936 on Tasmania and most scientists agree that populations persisted at *least* until the 1940s.

Col Bailey published an incredible account - with photo - of a Tasmanian tiger *shot and killed* in the Tasmanian wilderness in 1990!

There is ample merit in pursuing the tiger further, in Tasmania.

Please help support my ongoing search for the Tasmanian tiger!
