Suzie Vinnick's 6th Album
My name is Suzie Vinnick and I am a Canadian Roots & Blues Musician – I’ve won 10 Canadian MapleBlues Awards and am a 3X Juno Nominee. I have recorded 5 solo albums and am very excited to say I have begun working on my 6th album!
ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM
The new album is a Blues and Roots extravaganza featuring a full band and will focus on my different ‘voices’ - as a singer, songwriter and musician - I’ll be singing, playing electric & acoustic guitars, lap steel and electric bass.
The album is being recorded at The Old Sumbler House in Fenwick, Ontario, about 25 minutes away from my old church in Wainfleet, Ontario. The studio is owned by Mark Lalama.
Niagara-based keyboardist and accordionist Mark Lalama (Mark Lalama Trio, Sisters Euclid, Marc Jordan, Daniel Romano) is co-producing the album with me; Mark is adding keyboards and accordion to some of the tracks.
Frank Ditillio (at the helm in this pic) has been helping to engineer the project!
I wrangled the wonderful drummer Gary Craig (Bruce Cockburn, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, Jann Arden) to play drums on the album. Gary and I have worked together since 1993; he has played on 3 of my 5 albums.
Here's a fun shot of us all (including the one and only James Dean) in the studio where Gary and I have been laying down some bedtracks on the album (Gary Craig, Mark Lalama, James Dean, Frank Ditiliio and me)
We’re also going to have a few special guests on the album including my friend Kevin Breit (Norah Jones, Hugh Laurie, Cassandra Wilson).
I’ve written or co-written 9 songs for the album and have included 3 cover tunes as well. Some of my co-writers include Matt Andersen; Dean McTaggart (Amanda Marshall, Winona Judd); Dave Clark (Rheostatics, Gord Downie, The Woodshed Orchestra); David Leask (David Leask Band); Steve Strongman (Strongman); Treasa Levasseur (Treasa Levasseur Band, Corin Raymond) and Blair Packham (The Jitters).
Here is a link to one of the songs that will be on the new album called All I Wanna Do - it was written by Steve Strongman and I. The song recently made it to the finals of the International Songwriting Competition Blues Category - we're pretty proud of that!
REWARDS AND OTHER WAYS TO HELP
I’ve sold Presale CDs to help make all of my albums and have been doing the same for this album at my shows over the past year. The funds received from my Presalers have enabled me to record bed tracks with Gary and add a few overdubs (thank you Presalers!!)
The photos you see assembled above represent the long joyous process of recording that includes preparing demos of the songs and laying down bed tracks but we have much more fun ahead to complete the final work - and the final work is why I am reaching out to you! I am hoping to raise $18,000 in the next 6 weeks to help pay for:
- recording the remaining overdubs;
- the other musicians that we involve in the project;
- for the mixing and mastering of the album;
- for the artwork, liner notes and photography;
- for the manufacturing, licensing, distribution and promotion of CDs; and finally
- getting some wise eyes to look it over to make sure everything is perfect. Recordings are permanent!
If you would like to contribute to my GoFundMe
campaign I would be most grateful! I've put together some fun rewards for the campaign - please check them out!
If you are one of my Presalers and you’d like to upgrade
your pre-sale to one of the higher-up rewards just click on the Donate Now box and you can contribute the balance of the upgrade that you'd like (i.e. $25 Presale upgrade to postcard just send $15). If you could drop me a line to let me know which reward you'd like to upgrade to that'd be great. You can also message me if you have any questions.
Also, you are more than welcome to donate to the campaign and choose not to receive a reward - just click on Donate Now at the top right of the page.
(If you'd prefer to donate via an E-transfer or PayPal you can do so via my email address email@example.com)
If we happen to reach beyond our goal the extra monies raised will go towards publicizing and touring the album.
I also wanted to say, if you are unable to contribute financially at this time please know that even sharing the link to my crowdfunding page is very helpful and is most appreciated!
I love making music and getting to share it with my fans and friends. With the changes in the music business it has become more financially challenging for us artists to do so. Please know how much I appreciate your support!
Many thanks for reading and for your consideration.
I am so excited to share the new music with you!!
P.S. If you want to check out where I'm performing this summer please check my gig page on my webpage!

Greetings from Flin Flon, MB! I'm out on a Home Routes Tour until November 29th then I head to Alberta and British Columbia until December 11th to do another 9 shows with my pal Tony D.
I haven't given an update in a bit but I wanted to drop you a line. The album music is recorded and mastered - I'm just working on the liner notes and the plan is to send the artwork to the CD manufacturer in the next week. I'm excited to share the new music with you!
By the way, the album is going to be called "Shake The Love Around" in honour of some friends of mine in Forget, SK. They had a lovely tradition at mealtime - when they'd say grace we'd all hold hands and they'd end grace by saying 'shake the love around' and we'd all shake our hands around, kinda wave-like. The tradition has always stuck with me and I also really liked the sentiment of the line. There seems to be a lot of darkness in the world these days - the album has a lot of happy and positive songs on it so I hope it'll get you shaking your love around!
Thanks again for all your support and patience - I'll be in touch again soon!
