Farming is always tough. When you've been displaced from your home, it's even tougher.
We used to live in a farmhouse on the family farm until a fire destroyed the structure. We moved in with my mother-in-law until a flood drove us from there. We then moved in with my mom, to a house which is falling apart and is not close to the farm.
We want to move back to the farm, but there is no suitable shelter. I am trying to raise $6,000 to purchase a used yurt for us to live in. This will not cover the entire cost, but will help a great deal. A yurt is a portable, inexpensive, and environmentally-friendly type of shelter. I will then be able to work on my eco-farm, Heron's Rest, using organic methods to grow produce, eggs, and more, offered locally at farmer's markets and as a CSA.
Just $5 or even a share can help bring more locally-grown, healthy food into our community.
You would not just be helping me, but helping the cause of ecologically sustainable farming.
In return, I will be inviting all interested supporters to help me in erecting the yurt, the off-grid systems, etc. in a workshop type setting on our farm, including free camping. Also, all interested supporters can get their names on the waiting list for the CSA and receive bonus free produce for helping the farm out! I want the love to go around and forward.
