Support-ConeyIs Lighthouse Mission

Donation protected
The Coney Island Lighthouse Mission (CILM), the largest emergency food provider in Coney Island, is dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty in the community through the many services they provide.  For those families in need of food, CILM distributes free grocery bags twice a week and serve hot meals to the public every Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Their after-school program, for students aged 5-13, which began in 2007,  provides homework assistance and tutoring, hot snacks, games, and art projects five days per week.  Their sister organization, Rachel's Joy Maternity Home, provides shelter to homeless and abused young women and mothers.  Rachel's Joy also offers GED training, language instruction, and computer classes to help clients find work and achieve success.

On Thursday, April 20th Robert Louis Stevenson School students, members of the Softball and Track teams, and faculty members will hand deliver gently used clothing, canned food and non-perishable food items.  Additionally, the CILM Food Pantry program will be open so we will spend the afternoon volunteering.

One hundred percent of all donations will go directly to increasing the number of people we can help this afternoon.  Donations will be used to purchase food, drinks, and toiletries.  Your contribution allows you to join the Stevenson community in this simple act of kindness.
