The Fight For John O'Neal

Hi family. We are reaching out on behalf of our beloved  John O'Neal. Many of you know him for his lifetime of accomplishments, which includes serving as the co-founder of the Free Southern Theater, Field Secretary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and Founder of Junebug Productions. He is also the father of two, grandfather of five, great grandfather of one and a cherished uncle and brother. 

An award winning playwright and author, he has traveled extensively to build community. He's used the arts in service of supporting and encouraging Black people across the blackbelt South and those who are similarly oppressed.  His life has been dedicated to working for freedom, and his papers are now preserved in the archives of the Amistad Research Center.  

We have all benefited from his love for us. Now we have an opportunity to give back. We're calling on the community that he's served for sixty years. 

Our beloved John O'Neal is currently fighting the serious health challenge of dementia. In addition to the devoted care he is receiving from his family,  he  is in need of trained and supportive health care assistance. We are calling on the community he has served so faithfully for so long to contribute to this fight.  Your donations will help provide him with skilled assistance and round the clock care.
