M to Sacred Stone Camp w/ Supplies

Donation protected

Hello friends, this is M.

In my time at Standing Rock, I was able to participate in the planning and coordination of installing composting toilets at Sacred Stone Camp, as well as the construction and winterization of spaces for individuals staying through the winter.

I returned home because I needed to get better prepared in order to go back and remain an effective part of this movement. There is still much to do.

Being that I just came from there, I will be able to immediately get involved again with what's going on as soon as I return. And right now, it's important that people going there know what to expect, and are willing to endure the difficulties the climate can present.

This time, I plan to return as soon as possible with a 4-wheel-drive truck, tire chains, tie downs, a tow strap, sub-zero winter gear, propane canisters, and funds for gas.

4-Wheel-Drive Truck= $3,000

The truck will be a permanent donation to Sacred Stone Camp.
It will assist in firewood runs, supplies runs, and pulling vehicles out of the snow.

I will be selling my car (a 2000 Honda Civic), but need help covering the difference between that and a 4x4 truck. I anticipate being able to sell my car for around $3000, and being able to purchase a truck with 4wd for around $6,000 after all sales costs.

Tire Chains= $220
For all four tires on the truck and two extras for an additional vehicle (6 total).

Tie Downs= $80
For one 3-inch and two 2-inch, 27-foot-long ratchet straps (3 total). They'll be useful when we're moving supplies to camp from other places.

Tow Strap= $40
For one 3-inch, 30-foot-long recovery strap for pulling vehicles out of the snow.

Sub-Zero Winter Gear= $2,000
There are many items of clothing in supply, but not many of them are rated for below-zero temperatures. When you're essentially camping in arctic temperatures, there is a strict system of clothing you must follow in order to function outdoors without risking your physical well-being.
Things like base layers of long underwear, wool glove liners and baraclavas, and mid-layer polypropylene shirts and bottoms can be purchased through a military surplus outlet to save on costs, but things like extreme-temperature-ready boots and outer shell layers will be more expensive if they're going to last.

My goal is to get as many high-quality sub-zero-rated items for as cheap as possible, and to distribute as many of them as possible to youth and adults at the camp who will use below-zero gear to aid in their comfort, survival, and effectiveness in this movement.

Propane canisters= $160
The cost of 30 one-pound canisters at $5 each after tax.

Gas= $500

Total Amount Needed= $6,000

I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to become involved with this camp, this movement, these people.
Thank you for your support.

Together we will stop this pipeline.
