Still dealing with Harvey
On August 26, 2017 Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, Texas in a way it had never been hit before in recent history. We too had been hit in a way we had never been hit before my mother’s house was flooded and it was raining inside. Water came in through the doors and walls from the floor up and from the ceiling, walls and light fixtures down. My mother, Dolores Torres now 84 years young, a retired nurse of 49 years, worked hard all her life and always believed that if you do things the right way there would not be any problems. Mom had both Homeowners and Flood insurance, but they did not cover as much as we were led to believe they would be responsible for in the policies. There has been work done on our home, but it is still not livable. She has used all her money and credit so there is no more left to continue. At 84 she should be enjoying her golden years and it hurts me immensely to see it’s the opposite. I am her daughter, Alice Torres, and am disabled and a cancer survivor but limited on what I can do to help. I am oxygen dependent and now healing from a broken leg. My hope and wish are to see my mother happy in her own home by at least Christmas if not Thanksgiving. All help will go directly to Dolores Torres and will be greatly appreciated!!!+ Read More
We have some progress, we have tile floors in the kitchen and dining room. I will be uploading updated photos very soon.
Big update! We have an electrician working with us. Now we are looking for someone to put in our floors and work on the cabinets. We got the plumbing done for the furnace (gas line). We went to Lowes to get an estimate for just the kitchen cabinets and they wanted 45,000.00. WOW too much.
