Standing Rock: Eyes of the Youth

In July, I began my journey as a water protector with the OCETI SAKOWIN youth as they were running on foot to Washington DC To deliver the treaties. They prayed and chanted the whole way from North Dakota carrying the message from Standing Rock in their hearts and on their backs. I was blessed to travel with them, share this journey and hear their stories. I was deeply moved by their bravery, courage, strength and endurance in this time of hardship. I have lived at Standing Rock for over three months now. Much of my work has been on the front lines, as well as at Sacred Stone camp with the children.
As this movement to protect the continues, I realize that it is for the children that we stand in solidarity to protect our waters. It is our children and grandchildren who will have to find solutions to the problems that big oil and this pipeline cause. It is important to hear their prayers and document their journey as this is a profound moment of our collective awakening, where tribes from all nations are unified by the living prayer told by the ancients, and carried by the children of this generation.
I will return to Standing Rock in two weeks appear in court for protecting the water, with a camera, laptop and mobile studio to produce a documentary and an album of songs with the OCETI SAKOWIN youth.
This fundraiser will cover recording equipment, mobile studio and transportation for the production, including camera, microphone, instruments and physical production of cds for the youth.
100% of the proceeds from this documentary and album will benefit the OCETI SAKOWIN YOUTH COUNCIL and the children of Standing Rock. They will have full ownership and distribution of the music and be able to produce physical copies of this journey for a lifetime. Please help us share their prayers, songs, poems, words and wisdom with the whole world.
