The goal of #include <cpp> is to help make the C++ community more inclusive. One axis we would like to explore, is helping inclusivity organizations raise money to send people to CppCon.

We have been in contact with the Women in Tech Fund and with the CppCon organizers and with every $250 we raise, we'll be able to provide one CppCon ticket to a woman (trans or cis) who would not otherwise attend.

The initial goal of our campaign was to raise $1250 USD to cover the cost of 5 tickets, provided at a discount by CppCon. We quickly passed that goal, but we're continuing to raise funds so that we can offer travel assistance to those who we award tickets to. Airfare and lodging for CppCon typically costs $1300-2500 USD ($1100 USD for lodging, $200-$700 USD for domestic flights, $500-1200 USD for international flights). If we're able to raise $9000 USD, we should be able to cover most of the travel expenses of those who are awarded tickets.

The Women in Tech Fund is administering the distribution of the tickets. The application can be found here  - please encourage your colleagues and friends to apply!

Hello Donors,

An update on the diversity ticket winners: 4 of the 5 have confirmed they'll be able to attend, and travel arrangements for all of them have been made. I'm pleased to report that the one winner who needed a visa to attend has been granted one. The total travel and ticket expenses ended up just over $3800 USD - which is exactly the amount we raised, after GoFundMe's fees.

I'd like to invite all of you to come meet the winners at the "Women in C++" dinner and panel that we'll be holding at CppCon 2018. Tickets for this event are now available:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/women-in-c-dinner-and-panel-cppcon-2018-tickets-50295341721

This is a great way to meet other people in the C++ community interested in promoting diversity and inclusivity.

100% of the cost of the ticket goes towards covering the cost of the venue and dinner. The diversity ticket winners will be receive a free ticket to the event.

I hope to see you there!

Hello donors,

The Women In Tech Fund (WITF) has selected the five women who will receive the tickets and the travel funding. The winners have been notified. We're not ready to share their names and stories publicly yet, as we want to speak with them about that first. Three of them are from outside of the US (Ukraine, Canada), and one is a student.

We're tentatively planning to hold a lunch event at CppCon for the ticket winners, the donors, and some other CppCon attendees. More details about that will come in our next update!

In total, we raised $4,000 USD, which leaves us with approximately $2,600 USD to use to cover the airfare and lodging costs of those selected to receive tickets. The funds have been transferred to the Standard C++ Foundation, the Washington US 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization that runs the CppCon conference, who will be handling the legal and financial aspects of this program for the #include <c++> group.

We anticipate all of these funds will be used to cover part or all of the travel expenses of the three winners who requested financial assistance. In the unlikely event that any of the funds are not used for this year's program, I have directed the Standard C++ Foundation to hold the remainder to be used for the same program at CppCon in future years.

On behalf of everyone at #include <c++>, thank you once again for your generous contributions!

Hi everyone!

The application form for the 5 tickets is up! The Women in Tech Fund has generously volunteered to administer the application process and manage the distribution of the tickets. The application can be found here:

We're still taking donations - the additional funds will be used to provide travel assistance to those selected to receive the tickets. We've adjusted our our Go Fund Me goal accordingly.

Thank you all for your incredible generosity. It's humbling to see the community step up to plate like this!

Hi all! Thanks to your generous contributions, we're well over our goal now. We have enough funds to cover five tickets, as we originally planned. As mentioned in our original prospectus, the extra funds will allow us to go even further, and offer travel vouchers to those selected to receive a diversity ticket.

The average cost in terms of travel to attend CppCon is $1500-$2000 dollars. By offering some amount of financial aid to cover those costs, we'll ensure that the tickets go to the most qualified applicants - not just those who are financially able to attend.

We are working to get a system up for people to apply for the tickets. Fortunately, we have plenty of institutional expertise running similar programs for CppCon and C++Now, so we should have something up within the next day or so.
