Somersworth Public Graffiti Wall

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Preston.  As some of you may or may not know, I'm trying to get a public graffiti/art wall here in my hometown of Somersworth, NH.

About a year ago, I picked up a can of spray paint and started painting on a bike jump my Dad and I made.  As I was painting, I thought how cool would it be to have a public wall where I among other local artists could go and create art.  This past summer my parents, cousin and I went to Boston for a long weekend.  First thing on my list was to visit Graffiti Alley in Cambridge, MA.  After throwing up a few things and meeting a couple local artists, I knew that this was something I really wanted to see in our small city.  Having a graffiti wall wouldn't just cut down on vandalism throughout the city, it would give local artists a place to express their feelings and creativity through art and maybe even draw in some tourists.

So far, I have gone before the Somersworth City Council and have also met with the Recreational Department.  Most of them think it's a good idea, but now we just need to lock down the location.  At tonight's meeting, we came up with the idea of making some walls out of plywood and putting them at the local skate park.  It's not the wall I had in mind, but it's a start to get my idea up and running in the Spring of 2019.

At this time, I'm asking for donations for the plywood, 4x4's, 2x4's, concrete, screws, a sign, trash can and whatever else may come up.

Thank you,
Preston
