* Just wanted to give everyone an update! Sloan is eating well and her vitals are stable. We’re currently waiting on a surgery date, but hopefully it will be sometime next week. Thank you again for all the support! We appreciate everything!! *

**Alora and I would just like to thank every single one of our donors! We are absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received in the last 24 hours! Any additional funds will be used towards medical expenses that can arise. Thank you so much again to everyone that has helped us out during this time. Your support means the world to us and allows us to take a breath and be as close as possible to Sloan. Thank you!!**

Hi everyone!

Our daughter Sloan Eleana Allen-Leal was born on June 1st 2018 at 2:27PM at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Temecula, CA. Sloan was healthy as can be weighing 7lbs. 3oz. and 19.25” in length.

Within her first few hours of life, a nurse checked her blood sugar level and noticed she was too low, 28, which ideally is a minimum of 45. Sloan, immediately, was given a high caloric formula that bumped her blood sugar to a healthy 61. After three hours of waiting and sleeping, her blood sugar dropped to 31, then 34 three hours later. The doctor decided the best thing to do was admit her into the NICU for an IV that would help with her blood sugar level.

Once she was under the care of the NICU team, they were able to raise her blood sugar level to that of a healthy newborn. However, they noticed the oxygen saturation in her blood to her lungs was far too low. The doctor requested she be sedated and have a breathing tube inserted. (Seeing our 12 hour old Sloan sedated with a breathing tube was the second worst thing we’ve had to see) At this point, the doctor was sure she had a heart murmur, but was unable to test for any heart defects at their facility. Sloan was transferred to Rady Children’s Hospital at 7:00am on Saturday, 06/02.(This was the hardest thing we had to see as she was secured in a transporting box, sedated, with countless wires surrounding her)

Alora had to stay at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta until Sunday and I followed the ambulance to San Diego.

Upon arrival, Sloan was admitted to the NICU and underwent a Heart Echogram and a CT Scan. The results had shown a hole between the left and right ventricle, and a narrowing of the outflow tract from the right ventricle into the pulmonary artery. Sloan was then moved into the CVICU where they only focus on newborns with cardiac problems.

It’s now been a week and she has conquered Jaundice, the need for her IV, breathing tube and oxygen cannula. After 5 days of Heart Echograms the cardiologist wanted to see how she would fair with allowing the outflow tract to close, without any oxygen support. She did great for two days, but on June 7th we got the news that her oxygen saturation was not doing well enough and they are going to schedule her for surgery sometime next week. (06/10 - 06/17)

At this point we have enough funds to stay in our hotel until 06/16, but we don’t have a firm date on her surgery or how long her post-surgery recovery will take. I’m, humbly, asking for help so we can stay close to our Sloan throughout this process. Any donations are incredibly appreciated and will help us tremendously.
