Skyview Eviction Assistance Fund

$2,670 of $2,500 goal

Raised by 59 people in 3 months
Skyview Mobile Home Park residents are being evicted. Skyview is on the Westside, in one of the most densely-populated, low income areas of Missoula. Residents have until April 2018 to move out, with very few affordable housing options awaiting them when they leave. We are raising money to help residents cover relocation expenses.

All donations will be disbursed to Skyview residents to help with their relocation costs.
The North-Missoula Community Development Corporation  is overseeing this fund.

In addition to raising funds for families that are being evicted, NMCDC is co-hosting a community meeting with NeighborWorks Montana on January 23rd at 6pm at Burns Street Center for Skyview residents. A variety of local service organizations will be in attendance with information and guidance on how to navigate resources in the community.

In order to receive funds, residents will need to show NMCDC staff a copy of their eviction notice. Funds will be disbursed equally among all families that come to NMCDC and show this proof.

Thank you for your donation! Feel free to call NMCDC with questions.

Hello Skyview Resident supporters!

Over the past two weeks, we have heard a lot of updates from Skyview Residents. Many have found new living situations. Some are still looking.
We have to send out a huge THANK YOU to all of you for donating, big and small, as each donation made a huge difference in this campaign.

We also have to applaud the work of Missoula Federal Credit Union and First Security Bank for donating cash to the cause, and in the case of MFCU, providing small loans to help residents pay for security deposits and moving costs. I have heard stories from multiple families who have been able to find a place to live thanks to MFCU's willingness to loan them money.

So far each family that applied has received $165 (yes, it's small), and they will now receive another $100 thanks to First Security Bank's check arriving in the mail this week!

The housing market is still grim, but 16 families are in a better position right now because of all of you. They want me to say THANKS, and they can't believe people stepped up the way they did.

Hello Supporters!
We will be extending the deadline to accept donations and resident applications to February 1st in order to make sure we can provide at least ~$200 to each family that has applied.

We hosted a fruitful second meeting for Skyview residents last night, with many of them walking away with new ideas for housing options.

Most residents we have been in contact with have still not been able to find suitable, safe, affordable housing.

We want to extend our thanks to the Missoula Housing Authority for waiving application fees for Skyview residents who are looking for new homes!

We also received a $250 donation from Missoula Federal Credit Union during the meeting!

Thank you all for showing up for Skyview residents!

Thank you everyone for your donations!
We are consistently receiving more applications for funding from Skyview residents, and have decided to continue fund raising until January 15th!
We know of at least two families that have found new living situations due to the November 28th meeting we hosted, and we are planning another meeting January 23rd, for those who couldn't make it to the first one.

In attendance, we plan to have: Missoula Housing Authority, YWCA housing staff, Partnership Health, Missoula Job Services, Missoula Food Bank, Homeword, Montana Legal Services, Missoula Federal Credit Union, and of course, our partners from Neighborworks Montana and the ROC program. All of these organizations have resources that can benefit people who are being evicted from Skyview.
Please continue to share this page with your networks so we can send these families off into the new year with some moving assistance cash!
