Share Joseph's Dream

Joseph runs The Alpha and Omega school in Uganda.  The school offers education to local children, some of whom are orphans.  It is run on voluntary donations and sponsorship of the children.  The children live in and have their meals at school.

To maximise funds the school has purchased an allotment to grow food that is used in the school kitchen for the children's meals.

Lack of rain last year caused financial difficulties for the school as the crops failed to flourish more than once and food had to be bought in, which was extremely expensive, given national food shortages in Uganda and consequent high prices.

A small group of plumbing engineers in the UK have offered to install solar panels and other necessary equipment which will pump water to irrigate the grounds.

They will go at their own expense but money is needed for the digging of the well, the panels and necessary pipework.  They estimate the cost to be £6,000.

We hope to raise this by March 2018 when a working party is planning to go to Uganda to start the work.

An irrigation system would mean that crops would not be so dependent on rainfall and that the school would be self sufficient in supplying food for the children.

It would mean such a lot to the children at the school as they would be assured of better nourishment, all year around.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  However much you feel able to give would be gratefully received.
