I am a parent of a child who attends Southminster Child Care Center. This childcare program is a mission of Southminster Presbyterian Church, organized in 1981 to provide a loving, supportive, safe and educational environment for the children in our community (with a three star state rating to boot).
The hearts of the staff are to help raise loving and strong children through positive interaction with each child and their families. Also by working in a supportive and encouraging manner to serve the community with excellence. It is their strong desire to promote health, strength and well-being to the family unit.
The wonderful community that is Southminster is now facing immediate and permanent closure due to several circumstances that have occurred in the past week. Our hearts as parents and community members is to do WHATEVER we can to ensure that this institution stays open and is more than successful for generations of children to come!
Without disclosing personal details the situation is as follows: Over the last week we have lost two full time staff and are no longer able to operate as needed to serve the children in our care. Not only that but I believe there is a REAL financial need to hire more quality staff and to retain the wonderful teachers and staff that serve our kids every day!
So, with all of that said we are raising money to help keep the doors of Southminster open! We need funds for increased security measures at the school, two full time teachers and at least one substitute or part-time employee to cover vations and sick days through out the center.
In addition we would love to raise enough money to help make needed improvements to classrooms and to the center in general! The Southminster Family has been in operation for over 3 decades and they don’t deserve to go out like this! Southminster needs this, our kids need this and the community needs this!! #savesouthminster
