Save Our Borderlands Family

IN THE BEGINNING

22 Years ago, on September 3rd, 1995, a young couple embarked upon a life journey together.

Only a month after being married, on October 13th, Nate and I opened Borderlands Games. We were filled with a passion for games and a love of the community that surrounds them.

Over the years, we have watched you grow up with us, start families, and become a thriving gaming community. It has truly been a pleasure to be part of so many lives. Because of you, our dream became a reality. Many of you also know our daughters. You are their teachers, friends, family, and mentors. So many of you are now not simply patrons, but friends and family that we cherish and have deeply touched our lives.

THE SAGA CONTINUES

Several years ago, Nate became sick, and suffered a mental health breakdown caused by an untreated genetic condition. It took us a year to find Nate the right help and start his road to recovery. We were paying for all of this out of pocket, and almost lost Borderlands.

Since then, our daughters have been diagnosed with the same condition as Nate. Since it was diagnosed early they shouldn’t be impacted as severely. I have been doing my best to run Borderlands by myself, keep the community strong, and give my family the support they need.

Nate has not been able to leave the house much for the last 2 years and can’t drive, making it difficult for him to stay connected to you. He misses all of you, our community, and our gaming family.

After about 6 months of treatment, Nate was able to start helping from home, by handling some of the product ordering and setting up online sales. However, due to his condition, he made a few mistakes and accidentally violated one of our supplier’s online policies, resulting in them closing our account with them.

THE STORY DOESN’T HAVE TO END

We are now in a position where we have a large hole in Borderlands due to medical debt and the loss of a key supplier. Both Nate and the girls are still in treatment, and those expenses are building up. We also have our Borderlands Family to support, the faces behind the counter that you interact with every day, that are not simply employees, but are like family to us.

We have had ups and downs over the years, as most businesses do, but this time we could use some help. Borderlands has always been about you, the gaming community, our gaming family, your kids, and our kids.

Nate and I started this together, and I don’t want this to end while he’s still home recovering. We are not ready to be done. We have so many things that we still want to share with you. There are many more games to play and fun to be had.

We need your help.

Please donate what you can and share this to help spread the word.

Share with us what Borderlands means to you.
