Save my babies from his abuse!
In the upcoming weeks, I will be facing the man who abused my beautiful babies, in court. He wants to see the children he beat, hit, punched, dragged, and bashed across the basement beams.
He’s coming with top notch lawyers, but I’m coming alone - because as a single mom, and a survivor of domestic violence, raising three hurting children on my own, I simply cannot afford legal representation.
I’m just a mom who was a scared, frightened woman. Who took her children one day and ran with my heart on my sleeve, away from the person who beat his babies and his wife. The man who sexually assaulted me many nights and left me crying in pain. Who blocked the driveway to stop us from escaping the day we tried to leave.
And now, he wants to see them again. Subject these precious children to his horrific abuse again.
Please, help me save my children!
They’ve been through so much. After months of being trapped by a cruel man, they have finally learned to smile again. To relax their shoulders instead of tensing up their little bodies and blending into the walls so their father wouldn’t turn into a dangerous beast.
They've worked so bravely in therapy to get past the trauma and fear. My children’s teachers recognize the difference the past 16 months have made. The terrors they’ve experienced night after night, have gradually calmed down, and almost completely disappeared. I wish the day would come when I can finally take them to new places without seeing their eyes enlarge with fear, begging me to promise them that their father will not find them.
The grand jury in criminal court found my ex guilty of 12 counts of serious crimes of child abuse by the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degrees. But he got away with a great deal. He plead guilty only for one count per each child for a charge by the 4th degree only. My ex plead guilty for child abuse, but was able to get away with a slap on the wrist; only PTI with no jail time.
And now, he decided he wants to see them again. If he wins, they will be plunged back into terror. They’re slowly beginning to heal - and seeing him, having to speak to him, will reawaken all the horrific abuse they’ve gone through. Seeing him will open up every trauma my young children have suffered, and destroy all the healing and peace they are finding.
I need your help, because I can’t do this on my own. If I face his powerful attorneys in court without an attorney of my own, I will probably lose.
I’ve tried every option - I’ve called every clinic and organization in my state, no one can help me with my case, which includes Legal Aid Services, The Legal Department of Rutgers University & Seton Hall, Pro-Bono Lawyers, Court-Appointed Lawyers, etc. No one can help me! Even the Judge in this case confirmed it would be impossible to get free representation with a case this complex, with so much at stake. Without legal representation, the risk of losing is huge. Time is of essence- without your help, there is no hope. Please make a difference in the lives of three innocent boys.
