Save DACA Flight Attendant from Deportation

On February 12, flight attendant Selene Saavedra Roman, based in Houston, TX for a regional airline, was detained by U.S. Customs agents at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport after returning from Mexico as part of a routine assignment. According to an article published by thepointsguy.com, Saavedra was born in Peru, but was brought to the U.S. when she was only three. She was raised in Dallas, and graduated from Texas A&M university. Although she was a part of the DACA program, or "Deferred Action for Child Arrivals," the program has been jeopardized by the lack of support from the Trump Administration, leaving Saavedra in a tough spot. As she had only been employed by her airline for a few months, she was assigned a trip out of the United States purely because of her low seniority at the company, even though the company assured her she would not have any problems reentering the United States, which she had not done since she entered the U.S. as a child.

"She ended up being held at the Houston airport for 24 hours, then Immigrations and Customs Enforcement transferred her to a privately run immigration detention facility in Conroe, Texas, one of several that have sprouted up in the past couple of years to cope with the administration’s restrictive border policies.

“She spent Valentine’s Day in prison, I know that,” Watkins said in a telephone interview. “They’re only allowed outside once a week, like in a concrete courtyard where I guess they can look at the sky, and maybe they have grass. She wakes up at 6 for chow, and it’s lights out at 10:30pm, and it’s all about the other prisoners trying not to tear each other apart. I can visit her for an hour once a week, but I can’t bring her books or photos, and it’s through two inches of glass. I mean, yeah, it’s a prison.” (The Points Guy)

Please help us find some assistance for our friend, and our coworker in this fight.
