Run Talk Run

Donation protected
Run Talk Run is a community. A running mental health support group committed to supporting each other and being open about mental health.

Our runs are free to attend, for EVERY pace, a safe space to seek support for our mental health.

We currently have 25 runs worldwide, and have been operating on kindness alone for 18 months. To ensure we grow and impact more people in the most safe and nurturing way possible, we are seeking funding to support us.

Who benefits from Run Talk Run?

* People experiencing mental ill-health,  particularly people waiting for or not engaged with treatment. An estimated 75% of Londoners experiencing mental ill-health are not in treatment (Source: Thrive LDN).
* Inactive people. There are often cultural, structural and financial barriers to partaking in physical activity, and Run Talk Run successfully makes running a less intimidating (and expensive) experience for any ability or income.
* People experiencing loneliness or at risk of experiencing loneliness. According to Time Out Index Survey 2016, only 7% of Londoners think the city is  a good place to make new friends.

What will funds be used for?
Funds will be used for the below, in accordance to their priority.

RUN LEADERS
Our Run Talk Run leaders are all volunteers who give up their legs, time, and ears every week for their local community. I would love to support them with:
* LiRF training
* MHFA training
* High-Vis Gear
* Further mental health support/supervision

REACHING THOSE WHO NEED US
It's true that "marketing" Run Talk Run to those who need us most costs money.
We require funding to create flyers to be left in GPs, and targeted adverts for those on social media to break up the #Fitspo booty guides.

OPERATIONS
"Running" Run Talk Run is a full time job.
To sustainably grow and impact as many people as possible, funding is required to be able to invest this time into the growth of reaching more communities.

TESTIMONIALS..

"I found myself opening up in a way I had never experienced before in a non medical setting. I hope one day I can consider myself to be "recovered" from my mental illnesses, but for the time being, I am infinitely grateful for RTR- a group that is slowly but surely allowing me to rebuild a positive relationship with exercise, and treat it as self care, as opposed to self annihilation." - Katie

"I had the fear that I would be too slow or too much of a hindrance, or it will be too awkward. I'm glad I was disproven on all accounts, the group is fabulous, everyone is extremely friendly" - Sumaya Hassan

"I took the plunge and just went down when the time was right and was blown away by the friendliness of everyone there.  RTR is now a vital part of my week which allows me to not only run, but talk with some amazing individuals who all have their own stories and journeys" - Adam

A note from Jessica (Founder)...
The community that Run Talk Run has grown into, continues to astound me every single day. The kindness and empathy the runners provide for each other without fail has been the most beautiful thing to witness. Any donation into what it is that Run Talk Run is creating will be so gratefully received. To be able to give back to the run leaders who commit so much time and patience to this cause is a priority for me now, and whatever you can spare will mean A LOT to the community as a whole.
