Riding with Isabel

Donation protected
Since launching Live.me, we've been fortunate to see a community of kind-hearted and caring individuals coming together to support one another.

Our users have always shown great affection for those in need, which is why we wanted to share Isabel’s story with everyone, and the chance encounter that brought us here.

Here’s how we met Isabel:

Isabel Ochoa never expected that her Uber ride would be chosen one day in August and that she’d have the chance to meet someone with the potential to change her life.

Isabel didn’t necessarily want to drive for Uber after losing her job a few months back, but for her, a single mother with three boys (one 5 years old and 3 year old twins) recently diagnosed with cancer, driving has just been part of surviving life right now.

Like all of her Uber rides, this one in mid-August also began with a friendly conversation started between her and her rider, Fu Sheng. Isabel asked where he was heading, about his visit to Las Vegas, and how he was doing.

Talking about his hectic schedules and meetings of the day, Fu Sheng explained he’s a founder of Live.me. Isabel was immediately stunned. Live.me, was a live broadcasting app she knew well and had used regularly.

“I was a little skeptical at first, but I was able to earn a couple hundred dollars the first month, just from talking and being myself,” said Isabel. “Not only is it a lot of fun, but it’s a different experience from other social apps I had tried.”

Fu Sheng was touched by the chance encounter with Isabel, a Live.me broadcaster who was working hard to provide for her kids.

After Fu Sheng arrived at the airport, and Isabel later connected with people at Live.me is when we also found out she was just recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

“Live.me has a lot of users so this chance meeting of Isabel might not be all that rare, but her determination to persevere during hardship has been on my mind since riding with her,” said Fu Sheng. “I really admire her strength and hope that Live.me can help her and others like her. We want the app to be used by everyone from professional content creators to those connecting over casual conversation and finding support.”

On Monday, August 28th, Isabel had her first surgery to remove the cancer; in the coming weeks she’ll find out the successfulness of that surgery.

So what happens now?

At Live.me, we want to foster a community of users who care about one another and help those in need, which is why we wanted encourage users to get involved helping Isabel with some of her immediate expenses by donating to this GoFundMe page set up for her.

Her kids need new clothes and school supplies, her twins need new mattresses after growing out of their cribs, and there are a few other expenses as a result of not being able to work as much after her surgery which would be great to assist her with.

Live.me will also be contributing $0.10 for each share of the webpage (http://www.liveme.com/activity/2017/ridingwithisabel/index.html ) with her video, up to $3,000, in an effort to share her story and encourage others who are also going through tough times.
