Transformar vidas usando el circo

€240 of €6,000 goal

Our project emerged inside a scout group. We wanted to do something different to educate children and young people and we loved the circus, so we launched into adventure. We trained in a social circus school in Barcelona and started teaching regularly two years ago. We live in a city of 110,000 inhabitants and we are emerging from a strong economic crisis. This generation will be the first to live with fewer opportunities than the generation of their parents. We have many young immigrants and others who arrive daily. Then our project reflects these realities perfectly. We have in the leadership of the project a boy born in Morocco (Ahmed) and another born in Spain but of Moroccan parents (Ayoub). This also gives us a multicultural profile and conveys a message: that we are not an assistance organization that only gives charity but also allows participants to occupy leadership positions. I really like to see these boys teaching middle-class Spanish children who come with curiosity about the circus. We also serve undocumented immigrant boys who live in a juvenile center and do not have a family. We do not focus on people at social risk but we want to be a project that truly serves the entire community, integrating those who are at a greater disadvantage. Our economic difficulties are: 1. The place we use has to be rented and it costs us dearly. We pay for hours of use, so in order to grow we need more money to expand the rental schedule. 2. We can not pay a fixed amount to help the volunteers because we have no fixed income and the truth is that the boys deserve to earn a decent wage and that in the future we could hire some.  We live every month with the fear of not being able to pay the rent. 3. We have the dream of setting up a center to provide shelter, job training and social skills to dreamers (young people with no family or documents).
