Restore Research Parkway

In late September 2016, the City of Colorado Springs took away 2 lanes of our 6 lane road, Research Parkway, and replaced them with bike lanes.  The average citizen was shocked to learn of this decision.  We weren't given a head's up about the project and did not receive any emails from the city that they were considering this change.  The cycling community, on the other hand, had been personally contacted by the traffic engineers clear back in May of 2016.  The city hopes this change will force us to ride our bicycles to commute to our jobs and for shopping trips.  We don't agree.  We want our Parkway returned to 6 lanes!  We're a grassroots group of ordinary citizens who resent this attack on our quality of life.  Also, we have serious safety concerns about more congested traffic and the fact the city has put these very few cyclists on a 45 mph road right alongside cars.  We'd like to purchase signs, additional banners, and door tags to be able to promote our cause.  Our petion is at https://www.change.org/p/mayor-restore-research-to-6-lanes-comment-if-you-sign-this-petition
