Researching Olive Ridley Turtles

Donation protected
The Back Story:
Sea turtles have been around since the cretaceous period, but now they are on the verge of extinction, possibly within as little as 20 years . Currently there are 7 species and many of these are on the endangered species list. The prime reason for this is due to enviornmental changes caused by human beings.

I am a BSc (Hons) Marine Science student  graduating July 2018. During my degree I have been fortunate in developing my research skill set, by spending 8 months on a research station in Moorea (Tahiti). There I found my love for cetaceans, such as turtles, whales, dolphins and other marine mammals.
Marine life, their various levels of intelligence, behaviour, survival techniques intrigue me as well as how the developing environment affects their various habitat.

I now have the opportunity to work and learn from
a driven research team which includes Christine Figgener, a PhD Candate from University of Texas whos video went viral (http://abc7news.com/science/viral-sea-turtle-video-fuels-campaign-against-plastic-straws/1942663/ ) giving way to the ANTI-STRAW MOVEMENT.

This internship will  provide me with invaluable experience in biological field research, new ecology and wildlife management techinques as well as expanding my field work experince.
All this is necessary in my goal to further my education with a degree in MRes Marine conservation.

The Cost
This internship is an unpaid position in a small village of Ostional (Guanacaste) at the Pacific coast of Costa Rica from July - September 2018 (10 weeks).
It is estimated that the cost for this placement will be £2000. For the 10 week duration I will be funding all expenses (food, accomodation) by myself.
But to aid and decrease in the financial strain that furthering one's education can  cause, I am setting up this go fund me page to help pay for my flights and other expenses.

How  you can help:
I am trying to fundraise £800 for my flights/ living expenses while in Costa Rica.

Keeping you informed:
As with my stay and go  research in Moorea, Tahiti last year, I will be regularly updating my travelling instagram
https://www.instagram.com/jamgirlseaexplorer/
keeping you all informed with my various experiences.

Thank you for reading. Please donate, as any donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and spread the word to a few people you’d like to share my story with!
