Replace the Hunk o' Junk

It took me 12 years, but I finally killed the "car that wouldn't die."
The passenger side mirror departed long ago, after getting too close to the wall while exiting a bank drive-in after a long day of work.
The front absorbed a major collision with a deer (who attacked me, not the other way around ... and still survived to brag to his deer buddies), which is why the licence plate was strapped on with weed eater cord for years.
The driver's seat broke, making me adept at driving while working on my inner core.
Living next to the water, rust and moss took down much of the paint which hadn't already flown off. Hence the stickers on the hood, which also, eventually, peeled away.
Yet she endured.
Through the tail end of video store life, and on through farm work, a return to the dish pit and the past six years running "Coupeville Sports."

While school officials likely cried every time the hunk 'o junk sat in one of their parking lots, it carried me to numerous games and interviews, and along the way I've pounded out 6,300 or so articles documenting the life and times of Central Whidbey athletes.
But now, on the cusp of a new school year, my car can go no further, and Monday it made the final trip to the junk yard.
Writing a blog, especially one focusing on small town sports, is not a way to get rich quick (or ever), but my readers have been hugely supportive over the past six years, enabling me to use my writing to pay my limited bills.
I don't need (or want) a fancy car, just one which will cover the few miles between my house and the athletic events I cover.
If I can replace the dead hunk o' junk with a slightly-more-working hunk o' junk, we can keep this crazy small town sports blog life chugging along.
