The McDonough Family Needs Help

Donation protected

Hello there! My wife and I have been together for a few years, and back in August we thought we would take the plunge again and have ourselves a second child. We became pregnant shortly after. We were overjoyed. Our dreams were going to be coming true, and our son would have himself a new brother or sister to play with. We had our anatomy scan in late January. It was then that we had learned that we would be having a boy. Our son would have himself a little brother! Our tears of joy were quickly replaced with tears of sadness, however, when the doctor sat us down after the ultrasound was complete. He informed us that our wonderful bundle of joy would be coming with some complications. He's got clubbed feet, and he's measuring very small (Under 1%) for how far along he is. After a second ultrasound at Bronson in Kalamazoo we found out that his brain has development issues. He's also got a hole in his heart (VSD), and his hands are unable to open. Without any specific diagnosis, we have no idea what we're up against, but we do know what the likely prognosis is. All of those on their own are quite manageable. All of them can be remedied. The struggle he is facing right now is that they are all appearing at once. We've talked to te doctors many many times, and at this time the prognosis is the same. Our little bundle of joy, if he makes it to full term at all, is not going to be long for this world. We've received tons of support and help from our community and families. It's all been invaluable. Words of support, hugs, and caring smiles have meant the world to us in this difficult time. We've cried, we've yelled, we've held each other, and continue to do so. It's all very difficult, but we're making it work. We're looking at the positives, smiling at every kick we get, knowing full well it could be his last. The bittersweet joy of feeling every bump, and thump, every ultrasound and dopplar heartbeat can only last so long. We're not expecting any miracles, either with our new son, or with the outcome of this fundraiser. Give if you'd like. Say a prayer, send a message, hug your kids. Thank you for taking your time to read this, it means a lot.
