"Welcome to the Highlands" Neighborhood sign

Donation protected
The Historic Highlands Neighborhood Association (HHNA) was formed in the spring of 2015 by Michael Valvo,  Lynda Brown, Marianne Seitz, Jason Jussif and Justine Maguire to support, promote and maintain a positive quality of life in our neighborhood.  The Highlands is a vibrant neighborhood filled with historic homes dating back to as early as 1640.

The HHNA board members are:  Lynda Brown, President; Marianne Seitz, Vice-President; Jason Jussif, Treasurer; Michael Valvo, Corresponding Secretary and Justine Maguire, Recording Secretary and Social Media Coordinator.

Our mission statement is:  “The HHNA exists to improve the overall quality of life in the Highlands and to support commonality of its members, which ultimately enhance homeowner property values. HHNA achieves its mission by: Building long-term residency, encouraging neighborhood like renovation and preservation of our homes, supporting properly managed growth and development, enhancing safety & security, promoting volunteer activism, combating community deterioration and building community by joining neighbors together in a common cause.”

WHAT IS THE PROJECT?
One of the ways HHNA wants to continue promoting a positive image of the neighborhood is to erect a sign that welcomes people into the area.  The sign will be one of the first things people see when entering the Highlands.  It’s intended to be a friendly sight and a welcoming first impression of those either riding or walking through, coming home or potential buyers.

THE CONCEPT.
The sign’s aesthetic will fit our neighborhood and welcome residents and visitors alike.  It will be a PVC composite (3/4” thick) which helps with low maintenance.  The “Established 1850 & Welcome to the Highlands”, will be V-groove routed and painted gold.  The border will also be V-groove routed and painted gold.  The entire face of the sign will be clear coated to help stop the peeling in the future.  26x2 steel brackets will be mounted to the sides of the sign for attachment to the granite posts. The sign’s measurements are 50” x 30”.  The color of the main body of the sign is yet to be finalized.
We have already consulted with a sign-making professional (who is also a Highlands resident!) to propose what we truly feel is a fantastic sign design by Michael Valvo.
The landscaping under and around the sign will feature low maintenance seasonal flowers, grasses and mulch.
The sign’s design has already been approved by City Council and Haverhill’s Brightside and is in accordance of the local building codes.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The following is a breakdown of the costs:
Sign estimate:  $1250.00
Granite post/2 estimate:  $250.00/$125 ea.
Brackets/2 estimate:  $100.00/$50 ea
Landscaping estimate:  $500.00/seasonal
TOTAL:  $2100.00
(In addition, there might be an opportunity for electricity to be added at the park.  So, at a later date, it might afford us to add lighting.)

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Work of this kind needs significant funding.  Your donation will go directly to help with this project and will be an integral improvement of our wonderful neighborhood.  While we don’t have a specific date for installation, we would like to have it installed by the Fall of 2019. (Sept/Oct)  Because of this, we encourage all contributors to donate as soon as possible.  That will help us with keeping our time frame in place.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and donate to the fundraising of our neighborhood sign.  We appreciate all the help!
