“Saving the Soler System”

            Here is my story:

Last week within 72 hours my entire family’s life was turned upside down.

My wife, I, and my 84 year old disable mother who is on Section 8 were given Notices of Termination of Tenancy to vacate our units by December 31st, 2019.

This resulted in me having to retire on December 13th, 2019 a year earlier than expected and to relocate my wife, myself and my 84 year old disable mother to Nevada.

I would like to take a brief moment and thank our entire family with the help they are providing thru these challenging times.

I especially want to thank Major Rey Heron and my step-daughter Jacy Heron [for the record the only steps in our house are the ones on the front porch, she is my daughter!] with the current help in relocating, your actions are unimaginable, and forever grateful.

But at the time I write this letter “nothing” is for sure.

The explanation our landlord gave us was they wanted to “remodel” both units.

The same unit my wife’s family [on-off] have lived in for nearly 47 years, and my mom, [in her unit] and myself [with my wife and 5 kids] for the past 20 years.

I understand the reason the owner gave, but the reality is, it’s the result of the current new property owner [as of 2013] to make more money, we’ve never had any major complaints or issues with the units. We’ve always paid all the rental increases and always paid the rent on time. Welcome to the real world, money makes it go around.

Note: The City of Glendale does consider this to be a “just cause” to vacate the units and some financial compensation is required to be given by the landlord to my wife and myself to move [they’re attorney is researching this because she disagrees,] but I can tell you, it’s required by Glendale’s law in our situation but…………….NOT FOR SECTION 8 recipients.

The un-imaginable pain this has caused our family is simply [we had counted on retiring a year from now December 2020] that the time we thought we had to spend with our children [6] and grandchildren [11] and great-granddaughter [1] has now been reduced to less than 90 days, rather than 1 more year.

That means no more parties, celebrations, holidays, just simply life, just simply to be a family united not divided.

The 6 kids are all grown up and the apron string has been cut a long time ago, some are married, some are not, some have children and some have none, but the reality is the grandchildren and great grandchildren are the ones who will pay the ultimate price.

I know were not planning on moving 5 states away, only 5 hours away, but with everyone’s life’s trials and tribulations we know our visits, hugs, kisses ,family gatherings will be limited. [Skype is not the same]

“History of Saving the Soler System”

It was a cold September in 1968 when we arrived from Havana, Cuba to California [yes Mr. Trump legally] I was 6 years old.

My family struggled, but eventually was able to provide a quiet humble life, growing up in Los Angeles on [1st & Virgil Ave – rough neighborhood] and thru it all I never got involved in gangs, fights, drinking, drugs, tattoos, or piercings, due to the fact my father taught me at a very young age to be proud, kind, respectful and always, always, make people laugh when you can. There is no need for violence.

We moved to Glendale in 1976 and we have called it home since.

I married a woman named Debbie in 1980 at the young age of 18 and she was 21 with a 1 year old daughter. For the next 18 years I provided for them and my mom and dad.

My father passed away in August of 1984 leaving me to provide and support my mom, my 1st wife and our child.

Debbie passed away on November 1998 at the age of 39 due to diabetes and kidney failure.

In 1999 I met whom I now believe to be my true soulmate, friend, partner, my wife named Lourdes. [She was best friends with my 1st wife Debbie] but that’s another story for Jerry Springer.

Since 1999 we have raised 6 kids, 11 grandkids, 1 great grandchild and multiple pets, but that’s another story for Ceasar Milan [the pets only.]

We married in 2002.

In 2002 I was given an opportunity of a lifetime to work for the City of Glendale.

Between 2002 – 2019 life was good.

But then the above mention happened.

So please if you can help “Save the Soler System “and donate would be great.

Thank you for taking time to read this.

Fore ever grateful,

Tomas, Lourdes and Silvia Soler + pets.

P.S. I only have Facebook, I do not have Twitter, Instagram, Match.com, Farmer’s Only.com,Boogachingching.com, Fluffy.com, ok I made up the last two.

Please share with your friends and re-post this to get the message out.

If the amount collected exceeds the “goal” amount, maybe daddy can get the big piece of chicken at dinner and maybe even get a new pair of Sketcher’s.

Thought for the day:

Somewhere out there your “ex” is dating someone who thinks they are the best thing that happened to them. J

If I made you laugh or even smile throughout this story then the “Soler System” is still working.

God’s speed.
