Publish Hobie's autobiography
To all his family and friends, he is known as “Hobie” an American icon and sports hero. He turned 90 last December, and published his autobiography May 24th. A recent story, “Unbroken,” became a best seller, and I believe “Challenge” will also become a best seller and made for TV movie.
Hobie overcame challenges to become “The World’s Greatest Diving Coach” at Indiana University with a toughminded philosophy that challenged him and all those he coached to succeed beyond their dreams and become Olympic and National Diving Champions.
We created a $4,000 goal using GoFundMe to finance publishing his book because your minimum contribution of $30 is a non-taxable gift, and in return you’ll get a personally autographed copy of his book that retails for $29.95 that includes s/h and will surely be a keepsake collector’s item. All proceeds go to Hobie. And in only the first two weeks of February we exceeded that goal.
Now we have a new goal to get 300+ orders by July 1, and have 61 so far. So if you’ve already ordered look for it in the mail around 10 days.
We need your help to post these two links on your social media and send out to your email lists to invite friends and family to get his book, and join us at his historical event June 22-25. Everyone’s welcome. But time is running out so REGISTER TODAY!!!
Here are two important links to order his book and register for this great event right now:
Think of the value to personally meet Hobie and other great divers and coaches. What would you have to pay to meet Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, or Hank Aaron? But now you can spend a day or two of events, and stay in a centrally located dorm to all the events for only $56 per night including linens! Check that out and register today.
If you’re a diving coach, an age-group, HS, or collegiate diver this is your one chance to meet your sport legend and other diving greats in person, and get your autographed copy of his book that will surely be a keepsake collector’s item in years to come.
This is his personal emotional and heartwarming story your friends and family will be inspired and enjoy reading. My wife reads a lot and helped me proof read my editing, and she couldn’t stop reading it twice! So post and send out these links!!!!! Right now!!!!
You can contribute more if you like as all GoFundMe book contributions will go to Hobie who has been living with one of his former divers, Jim Everroad, on a small retirement income.
His book is 375 pages with 150+ photos and many stories – more like a history of diving he inspired and created! Hobie advanced diving as a pioneer and there are many coaches who have positions today since he was only the second college diving coach hired in the entire U.S. in 1958.
But wait a minute! Here’s our problem. I’ve sent these links out in 6 different emails to 754 people on my incomplete swim and dive list, but only 61 people have placed their order.
So if Hobie sacrificed anything to help you, what is holding you back from banging your credit card right now for only $30 that includes free s/h? And in return Hobie gifts you back a great personally signed copy of his book. That will be a keepsake collectors item!
I don’t want to imply Hobie’s CHALLENGE is a “rags to riches” story. Because riches mean financial wealth to most people. But to Hobie “riches” means helping others to succeed beyond their dreams. To that end, he made huge sacrifices to ensure the continuing success of so many athletes and coaches. Wouldn’t it be nice to pay a little back to Hobie now, and learn how to succeed beyond your dreams?
And if you’re a coach plan to attend and send out an email to encourage all your divers to order his book and come also. If they attend, I know they’ll be motivated to be a better diver. And coaching divers who want to be good is a lot more fun.
Do three things right now:
First, go to the GoFundMe link and place your $30 minimum or more to order your personally autographed copy. Bang your credit card. Hobie’s worth it for all he sacrificed for us, and the sport. Pay a little thank you gift back and you’ll get his book, too.
Second, click on the IU celebration link and register to attend on your calendar.
Third, post both those link(s) on your social media, use your email and call all your friends and teammates to order his book and getting the word out to all. We expect a great turnout for a great coach, and fun for all.

P.S. If you want to learn more about Hobie go to www.HobieBillingsley.com and on the front page click … learn more….
P.S.S. My plan is to have you share your memories and anecdotal stories about Hobie in a blog post, and place photos you send in the photos section. Send all that content in .doc and .jpg photo files to my website master email: email@example.com
(note I spell my last name sen)
You're still on my IU swim and dive list, so expect another series of six emails to hit your inbox soon. Please copy and paste those links into your social media and send out in emails to friends, family, etc. because Hobie's book is an interesting story. S/H is included in every order. Also think about calling up your diving friends. I can't imagine a current competitive diver not wanting to meet and greet Hobie and other diving greats who will be attending. That would surely help make them a better diver.
See you all soon, Pete
P.S . Send me your anecdotal stories and pictures you want to put on Hobies website to share. Send to my email firstname.lastname@example.org in word .doc and photos in .jpg format please. Here's the book cover to see now.
