Cooley Reuse Project: Property Ctrl
$7,230 of $10,000 goal
With this seed money, we will gain property control of this beautiful 322,000 square foot National Historic Landmark in Northwest Detroit.
Sadly, each day, Cooley is being vandalized and is subject to theft, so we have just a few weeks to raise these funds.
Our deadline: Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14.
This is our initial round for investors who want to bring Cooley High School back to life as a community resource -- businesses, programs and services as well as quality eco-friendly housing.
Our first round investors will ...
First, the good news is that Cooley has been recently boarded, all floors, with high quality materials, including a new see-through material which is very resistant to trespassers.
Also, with the money raised, we were able to purchase top quality architectural renderings of Cooley High School and hire an experienced consultant to guide our team.
However, it is disappointing to report that Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD), Cooley's owners, have taken it off the market which means it is no longer available for sale.
Despite this news, Cooley Reuse Project President, Nicole Pitts, will continue to press for Cooley's sooner-rather-than-later re-opening, especially with the recent and promising leadership and administrative changes at Detroit's public schools.
If any donor would like a refund, please reach out to Nicole Pitts, President, Cooley Reuse Project directly via GoFundMe or Facebook.
The messages that Cooley Reuse Project has been getting, the donations and the interest in our community initiative have been energizing and exciting!
Thank you, All!!
A million thanks, Rod!!
